Well Badger,Im the last person anyone should ask for advice about what is fair or not.Check the thread "udon thani budget or udon Budget",and you will get an idea.I guess it depends on what she had before she met you and what her dreams are.You will have to find a middle ground.And it depends on what you can afford.There are once a year exspenses,like first class auto insurance,18,000Baht,if you want medical covered for yourself and those you collide with.And how many down on there luck family members,you are willing to support.I give my mother in law 5000baht,that I know.And it depends where you live.You probably know that 5000baht is what many people in Udon make,if they are lucky.Thats not enough,so thats why so many leave for the bright lights of Bangkok, and the beach resorts.My inlaws make about 10,000baht a person in Bangkok,but they are educated.And lets not forget many Thais live on credit like us.I hope this helps.
