Problems Accessing Youtube

PostAuthor: jackspratt » May 28, 2008, 7:01 am

For several months now I have had problems with Youtube, via my TOT ADSL.

If in the Youtube website, the spinning thing in the middle of the clip screen will just keep spinning, and no video appears.

If an embedded Youtube clip eg as shown in UdonMap, the clip screen will just show "This video no longer available"

Very frustrating

I have now discovered an apparent solution to the problem (on Thai Visa).

If in the Youtube website, you may see an option just under the clip screen which says "watch in high quality". Just click on this and wait.

If the option is not there, simply add "&fmt=18" (without the "s) at the end of the web address at the top of your browser.

This will not work if you are trying to view an embedded clip. In this case simply left click on the menu button at the bottom of the clip screen. Copy (ctrl - c) the url address, then paste (ctrl - v) it into the the Youtube website, and follow the earlier instructions.

Good luck :D

G'day sapparoht - have Flash 9.

But Flash is not the problem - it is TOT. As far as I am aware, they are blocking YouTube in many places in Thailand.

Cheers

jackspratt, like you, I too am having problems viewing Youtube videos and I also have TOT adsl. I've seen it in the past but have just tried to look at two different videos on Youtube and the "watch in high quality" option wasn't available to me on the Youtube.com site. Now I'm stumped, and I agree it's probably TOT causing the difficulties. :(

Paka not all the videos have the high quality option.

If not there, try the &fmt=18 option I mention above.

It has worked for me on every video I have tried to access on YouTube.
