PSI satellite, technical question

PostAuthor: Peterplay » December 16, 2008, 6:52 am

I have a satellite disk antenna from PSI (big black disk) which I want to use for two or say three TV’s in my house. Of course each TV has a remotely controlled receiver.
What I want is one (1) cable from the disk into the house and then, in the house, a split, with or without a special splitter ( amplifier or just splitter) with one cable from there to each tv.

Now they tell me that this is impossible and that I need a configuration where 3 cables go from the antenna, one to each TV. Pretty ugly 3 cables from the disk I find. I hardly can believe that that is the only solution.

Somebody from PSI told me that using a splitter is possible, but then watching the same channel on two TV’s is not possible. This also sounds weird to me.

Is there anyone who knows more about this, has experience with it or has different ideas ? Thanks.

I have PSI and two TV's working from it through a splitter. Only one decoder though so both have to watch the same channel on satellite but can access separate land program mes.The PSI engineer I use is Khun Chai 086 2327840
He seems to know his stuff.

Trubrit is quite right you can have cables via splitters in the house but as he says you can only watch 1 channel at one time on all of the TV's. The reason being that every programme is transmitted on a different frequency so if you want to watch a different programme, in say your bedroom, you must have a different cable running into your decoder box.
Not only do you have to run 3 cables from your dish you have to buy a triple feed LNB (which is the bit in the centre of the dish).
I did infact have this system in the UK with a motorised dish. Providing your carefully position the cables is doesn't look too bad.
Good luck

Probably best way is to use 4 way LNB as here .... http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Mod ... doy=search
Can't see where 3 coax cables would be worse than 1 visually, especially if system works. Could save some expensive mistakes such as possibility of multiple power supplies from different receivers to common single LNB

I don't know crap about satellite systems, but this site might give you some ideas.

http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/index.htm

Also, the ground floor electronics shop (Amorn) in Big C carries some satellite system components and you might also get some tech assistance there as well.

Well... I wasn't quite expecting these answers, but it looks like the Psi guy I talked to was right after all then : 3 cables from the disk into the house.
But then, I guess it isn't really a problem, especially if you bundle the cables nicely. There is other, worse '****' around the house as well  .
But I found it technically not a nice solution and I was sure it could be done otherwise..

Thanks all for you quick answers.
