Re-entry permit and 90 day reporting

PostAuthor: Mainer » August 16, 2007, 5:19 am

I will be returning to Thailand soon and have a valid Non-O visa, that was renewed in 23 March 2007. I got a re-entry permit and left Thailand on 1 May. I was supposed to go for my 90 day check-in on 23 Jun, and of, course that was not possible, as I was in the USA.

When I get to the airport in BKK, I should make sure they see my visa and re-entry permit to make sure I don't get 30 days upon entry..? Is that a fair assumption?

Does immigration at the airport deal with the re-entry permit and give me a new paper and date? Or, will I do that at AEK Udon Hospital when I arrive there?

Hopefully these are some straight-forward questions, and I appreciate experience rather than someone guessing, because I can do plenty of that. :D Thanks in advance.

The 90 day check-in is for when you have been in Thailand for 90 days without leaving. The clock starts from the last time you entered Thailand or, if you've been here more than 90 days, from your last check in. Since you left the country with a re-entry permit everything is fine. Immigration will see the permit, let you in on your old visa, and then 90 days after you enter the country you will be due to go for your 1st 90 day check-in.

Femmel is correct. I've been doing it this way for years, I assume you are on a 12 month extension to the non 'O'. Your new visa stamp and TM6 card should be stamped 23 MAR 2008, I also assume that the Re Entry Permit is valad till the same date. FYI - AEK has closed again and Immigration business is back in Nong Khai.

Femmel is absolutely right!Your report date will be 90 days from the day you reenter Thailand.
It is always prudent to make sure you have the proper stamp at the airport!

Immigration at the airport has nothing to do with 90 day reporting whatsoever.

Also AEK Udon Hospital immigration division is 'no more'.

I arrived in BKK on 30 AUG, and in Udon on 31 AUG. Ok, let me get this straight with you guys (and perhaps, gals). Yes, I am on a 12 month extension to the non 'O'. Actually I went to Immigration a bit early on 23 MAR 2007 and the Visa allows a stay until 3 APR 2008. The stamp I got at the airport now says 4 APR 2008.

But, again my current question is regarding the 90 day permitting. On 23 MAR 2007 I got a stamp to report on 22 JUN 2007. Of course I was in my home country and could not do this. It seems everyone agrees, that I do not have to grab a bus to run up to Nong Khai on Monday to get it re-stamped? I can wait until 90 days after my airport arrival on 30 AUG, or report on 28 NOV?

Thanks to all who give me feedback.

They give you a 90 day report date on the assumption that you are not leaving the kingdom prior to that date, because you did,you only need to report 90 days from 30 aug.

In your case the general rule is 90 days plus or minus 7 from the 30th AUG. Best to be a little early but NO more than 7 days or you will be asked to come back later. For 2 years now I have been posting my report to Nong Khai using EMS about 7 days prior, takes 2 days to get there and I have the receipt back in a week.
