Re-entry permit

PostAuthor: wokkawombat » August 23, 2006, 10:28 am

I am due to get my first re-entry permit soon. Do I require any copies of the original application form or copies of my passport and visa?

Thanks
John

Your question is a little vague. A re-entry permit is required when a person is in Thailand on a single entry visa or Extension to a Visa eg, 'B', 'O' or OA and intends to leave the Kingdom temporaraly. It is issued at a Thai Immigration Office. Very easy 1000 baht for single entry or 3000 for mulitiple entry which lasts the life of your current visa.

Are you in Thailand now? Are you asking about an extension to your current visa?

If you mean you intend to apply for a permit to re-enter the Kingdom you only need to fill out the application form and pay a fee - 1000 baht for a single re-entry, or 3800 for a multiple re-entry.

You may need a copy of your passport and a photo, I can't quite remember that bit, but it would be as well to take both!

:) It sounds like you want to get your annual ''visa extention''.A re-entry permit is only required if you have a current visa and you are planning to leave the country and return without having to apply for a new visa!

If you are extending.you will need 1 or 2 pictures depending on whether you want to apply for a re-entry permit at the same time(not recommended unless you are planning trips outside and back into the Kingdom before your visa expires!),

1 or 2 completed applications,1 for visa extention and 1 for re-entry permit, w/pics attached,

proof of income from your embassy or the required money deposited from outside Thailand into a Thai bank in your name or a combination of both,

bank book updated ,letter from your Thai bank stating the EXACT amount as your Thai BB updated amount,

Health certificate from a Thai clinic or hospital,

Passport, signed photocopies of the front page and visa stamp in your passport,

signed photocopies of all the pages in your Thai bankbook that show deposits /withdrawals,

1900 baht for the visa and 1000 baht for single re-entry permit or 3800 baht for Multiple re-entry permit.

Make copies of income statement(if used) and submit a copy.

I always make a copy of my letter from the bank to show the bank employee next year(when they realize that all they have to do is change the date and the amount,it speeds up the process considerably)!

Be clean looking, polite, patient and respectful!Mai Pen Rai :!: Hope this helps :!:

Re-entry

PostAuthor: wokkawombat » August 24, 2006, 11:19 am

I realise I may have been a little vague with the original question.

I am in Thailand now, I have a retirement visa (for want of a better term) and I am going to Aus soon. I only want a single re-entry permit as my extension to my non o expires in march 2007 and I will get a multiple then if I want to leave more than 3 times in the year.

I know I need a photo but only want to know if I need copies of my passport and application form when I go to AEK tomorrow.

You won't need a copy of your original visa application. Just passport.
It's a simple process.

OK - I have had many permits and not asked for any photo copies BUT I always carry heaps anyway as you say 'be prepared' your better looking at them rather than looking for em. It's a simple process just your passport make sure the TM7 card is in there and a current 90 day report receipt is handy if applicable, a photo and fill in a TM8 form.

Have a safe trip, I've got to go myself next month - bloody tax time again.

Bandung dero, tax is one of the reasons I have to go back but a big refund is in the offing.

Thanks for the replies.

On a totally different note I received word from the Aus embassy that my parteners tourist visa has been approved so frantically looking for cheap fares, Royal Brunei look the goods.

Re-entry

OK, immigration at AEK today wanted copies of passport data page, Non O Visa, TM6, Extension stamp and 90 day reporting form. They did not want a copy of the original form ( TM 8 ???) I submitted.

Strange! AEK is manned by Nong Khai officials and I'm bloody sure I didn't have supply all those copies. In saying that it's been 8 months since I last applied and things may have changed as they do here. TIT
Anyway thanks for the info, I getting mine next week.

Hope this makes sense. I came to Thailand on a multiple-entry non-immigrant O-A (retirement) visa last Sept. I left the country at Nong Khai last month and received a one year permit to stay stamp in my passport when I returned a day later. My question: if I want to take trips outside of Thailand between now and next August when the permit to stay stamp expires, do I have to apply for a re-entry permit before each trip to make sure that my retirement visa stays intact ?

I read the posts above and it's mentioned that a single entry permit costs 1000 baht and multi-entry permit costs 3800 baht. A little unclear if my multi-entry O-A visa from a year ago covers these trips already. Also would hate to be given a 30 day VOA when returned to LOS after a trip.

Multiple means just that, you can leave LOS and return as many times as you want, immigration always stamp or write the expiry date of your visa on the arrival stamp.I always double check though my passport at the entry point to correct any error if it did happen.

Correct. In addition, you will receive a further 12 months each time you re-enter under the current visa, up until the time it expires.

Effectively, this means if you re-enter 1 day prior to the expiry of the visa (ie 12 months from the date it was issued) you should get a further 12 months.

Still need to do 90 day reports, but no need for border runs in the 2nd 12 months.
