What is going on in the past month in NK? There have been two farang women mugged (one eldery lady whom I visited in the hospital with a broken arm) in the past 3 weeks and a Thai teenager was murdered a few weeks ago too. A guest at Mut Mee was pelted with stones by a gang of teenagers.

I have lived in NK for a little while, and though there have been a few incidents before, this seems like a trend. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this sudden increase in violence?

Seems like an increase,maybe because it happened to us or someone we know!2 years ago,I moved from Bangkok after living there 5 years straight.The violence that I personally saw and experienced was a major influence.One reason might be that the way the gov't went about dealing with the drug problem,dramatically increasing the cost to the addict,has caused an increase in robberies.Plus add to that equation a police force that acts after the fact only and are somewhat indifferent to the plight of ''rich''farangs,you have a recipe for further crime''successes''.We stand out and have very little backup,therefore are easily targeted.secure your environment and don't flash!
