The subject matter "Relationships"is so wide and open to personal interpretation, for good or bad, that the "only 2 things to do," is in my opinion being overly optimistic. A single persons bad experiences may cloud his writings to such effect that they become offensive to the general population outside the forum, remember we do have non member , Thai's reading., so not attacks on members per sec, but offensive to others. Therefore it will surely be the moderators job to edit(Censor?) these. This will be , by its very nature, subjective, surely?
What might offend my wife might not offend yours. Subjective ? I think so.
We have proved with the Nicey episode that the senior members are able to control, or at least minimise with common sense and wisdom a deranged persons postings. Finally with the help of forum staff, if the poster ignores the advise, to terminate the problem. This worked very well before, why not continue this way.If however a moderator is considered neccessary then ask for volunteers rather than suggesting people. It is somewhat embarrassing to have to say no.I make that as a general comment, not an attack on you personally.

Val, OK we can agree to disagree. I agree entirely with you that moderation should not be necessary. One of the most pleasant things about this site has been that until recently it has been entirely unecessary. In only one case has it been needed (well nearly two  ) and I see little harm in moderation providing it only extends to the limits I mentioned. Beyond that, if personal views are allowed to come into play, yes, its too much.

As for judging whether things are offensive outside the scope of this site; I concur with the OP; you have enough experience both of the Thai point of view and of the general farang sensibility (or lack of perhaps) to do a decent job; I am sure the "nomination" was meant in the best spirit even if you do not wish to undertake this one. There are many posts here with which I personally disagree, and I am sure (if I do not speak out of turn) that Brian and Paul or Sean have the same view. It's just a little security that it does not turn into a regular T*****sa flaming match thats all.

As long as it does not happen again, all is well, but as originally pointed out, if it is going to happen, this forum is probably where it will start.

Its a bit of a sad indictment is'nt it; that the more popular a site gets the worse the problem?
