Relationships Moderator

PostAuthor: Paul » December 31, 2005, 10:20 am

Relationships is one of the most used topics and always has many posts, however as yet has no moderator. We all remember the likes of Mr Nicey (sic) and one or two others - which fortunately we seem to have left behind now.

To keep an eye on the posts and use discretion where necessary in a subject such as this requires experience, diplomacy, tact and wisdom.

May I respectfully nominate/request the position goes to Valentine who has demonstrated all the above qualities time and again.
Of course only if he is interested.

I hope I am not speaking out of turn and if I am - apologies.

regards
Paul

That's a good idea Paul; if I receive a reply then I'd be more than happy to appoint him as moderator.

Paul I am deeply honoured and indeed flatered by your recomendation,
but as one who considered moderators weren't necessary as grown, supposingly mature people should by now have learnt to moderate their own behavior and not need outside censorship, it would be hypocritical of me to accept the post.It was in any case interesting to see 38 readings of your mail without a single aye.
I have been called many things in my life but never a diplomat. I'm the original"Bull in the china shop" I lost a promotion for calling an Air Vice Marshall "An old idiot, and on one infamous occassion when appearing as a witness in a court case, was even sentenced to 7 days imprisonment for telling the judge, he was a stupid old git, then compounded the problem by refusing to withdraw the remark and went on to remark about freedom of speech. Fortunately a more realistic judge dismissed the sentence on appeal. Maybe I have mellowed in old age however.

Your perogative Val, and although I, for one still maintain your qualities - despite your 'flambouyant youth Days :), I respect your decision and hopefully we will still enjoy your wisdom, tact and diplomacy and vast experience in your posts.

I didn't want to seem like I was taking speaking out of turn asking if you would consider it - heck I dont have the right to offer you anything, however it was mentioned by someone else that we could do with someone to keep an eye on the posts after Mr Nicey had kept up 'entertained' for those few days - and I wanted to suggest you - obviously respecting that I the final decision comes from the admin team not me. I am sure others would agree that you are a fine gentleman and I hope that, as you say, grown ups will moderate themselves!

Happy New Year to you and your wife

Regards

Paul

yorkman/banpaeng/BB all have the right qualities to moderate this forum. One either side of the Atlantic would cover the time zones should another "nicey" appear.

And of course somebody in Thailand as well who has not displayed the slightest sign of egocentricity, and always speaks and deals in conversation thoughtfully on this forum would be ideal for the job; would'nt they Marcus????? hint hint.... I am sure you would be ideal if you would care to volunteer your services.

John,

I agree 100% plus. Come on Marcus, give it up and just go for it.

Brian

PS I do not know how you get above 100% but it sounds good!!

Yep, go for it Marcus, I'd certainly help out with the editing/deleting of posts where necessary, but as for me actually trying to help others out with relationships, best left to the experts, got enough problems in my own

I was thinking more of a combination of John and Brian or Brian and Sean. :)

I may have a very high number of posts,BUT if you look at the times of the posts i am only on line for an hour each day during the middle of the day as i have to juggle business and a hoard of kids.Need someone who pops in and out during the day.PLUS this section does stir my emotions sometimes and i would like to be able to say what i feel. :D

Sorry John, Its not that I don't care to do it, but presently, I don't think I am suitable for the position. As some of you may have gathered from my postings I am currently having mood swings that make me alternatively love and hate the Thai people. This prejudices my views depending on which is prevalent at a given time. This is not ideal for a moderator.
