Renting an off road motocy

PostAuthor: Mobaan » October 7, 2009, 1:56 am

Hi folks,
I am getting desparate.
I need to rent an off road bike -250 cc or so-(Like a Honda baja, Yamaha TTR etc ) for a friend who wants to visit. ( I have one ,but we need one more). This will only be for Jan /Feb . but so far I have not gotten ANY hints where to turn to . Udon seems to be a off road diaspora.
Any tips will be welcome -private /business ,whatever.!

Sorry Mobaan, I'm not aware of any off road bike rentals in the Nong Khai area.

They can be rented across the bridge in Vientiane from a few locations along the riverside, but I don't think they can be bought back into Thailand easily.

I will make some enquiries for you around town though and get back to you if anything turns up.

Thanks, I know about the availability in Laos. We will go there for 3 weks ,after our trips in Thailand. Lao bikes can not brought over , I already checked on that. Please keep on looking. Maybe some private person wouls be willing to rent to us. We are looking at about 2 weeks end of January and 2 weeks end of February.

I found a few larger road style bikes in town that can be rented (i.e. Honda CBR 500, Suzuki GS 750) but nothing that even comes close to being fit for off road use.

I'll keep my eye out though.

Thanks for the help.
If push comes to shove -we may have to buy one ,perhaps with a buy back agreement.
Open to suggestions.

The nearest off road dealer I know is in Khon Kaen, you could always try to negotiate something with him, I don't have his details to hand though, so I'll post them if I come across them.

Another option for you to consider could be to contact one of the companies in Chiang Mai, there seems to be masses of them up there (maybe they can help you find something), just click the google link below:

Or you could always try looking through the GT Riders forum (dedicated to biker in and around Thailand) for further info:

Best of luck.

Thanks everybody .
We decided to take the bus to CM and rent some 250 Hondas there.
But think about this situation . Anybody wants to start a new business renting offroads in Udon ?
