Report on getting Agent (entry to Lao)

ThaiVisa

might be of interest if you use an agent. I always did just to carry the bags from shopping, plus the car ride. Might think twice after reading this.

Well I read it, doesn't seem like a great idea these days, really not that hard to fill out the forms. At least not a difficult as this could be.

The only advantage I could really see in that system would not to have to wait in the huge lines on two days.

I don't really understand the why of the crackdown as long as the information is correct it wouldn't seem to make much difference

Agency were used in any visa application for some, on there trips to Laos. The use of an agent was for convience, had nothing to do with the actual visa. Been used for years I have no idea why the crack down by the Loas, but it happened, per the guy who posted.

Well I always weight the costs. I've posted this before, and the prices might be higher now. Also I got the same comments as the above poster on thaivista.

The cost of the min-bus was 40 baht, so thats 80 baht round-trip X 2 = 160 baht, so why would a cheap ****** like me pay twice that, well this guy would follow me around while I shopped, (wife was on her own) carry the bags of what I bought, then when meeting up with wife, take her bags, and carry all to the car. Then when at the Thai border, he would go thru and park, we would then walk back to enter Thailand. So for 140 baht I think its a bargain, in fact I always tip him 50 baht.

Plus if we were to get off the min-bus with tons of bags, some checking might ensue!

I guess the point of posting the link, is not only to warn people, but to inform people, that things are changing on both sides of the border :!: :!:

Actually I see no harm no problem with using the visa agent. I always took a Loa friend from here wiht me trust me I paid a lot more then that and filled out my own paperwork and waited the in the lines. Of course I was single at the time and he knew all the spots in Vientene so I enjoyed my visa runs.

I definetly agree and that was exactly what hit me with the Thai Visa posting both sides are changing.

Since it would appear that the amount of traffic going across the bridge will be reduced I would not be surprised to see more increases in the fees.

I think Vientene was making pretty good money off the visa runners over the years, not only in fees but hotel bookings, foods, and entertainment. I assume the other border crossing were as well.

I always saw lots of back packers when I went there I wonder if they were visa runners a well?

Or were they really tourists?

I just want to know who this guy is.

He is using the name of a local bar - Up2U - but is certainly not the owner of that bar.

Then, to make things worse - he is using my picture as part of his profile, and is not paying me any royalties. That is unforgivable~!

Whats a wacker :?

I thought the guy was connected to the up2U bar here, as to the one here I really don't know the guy well, but have known his wife from her days in Steves a wonderful lady.

Once he puts the information out then it's up to the individual to decide how he wishes to proceed.

Not that I know of.

Though I too don't understand how the topic has changed from Visa Agents to the Up2U bar.

Please note the topic is Visa Agents.

Does that qaulify to make it part of the topic :? It did to me. You know all topics take a life of ther own and have since I have been on the forum. They used to be allowed to ramble on and on. Has something changed, in the world of forums?

I'm not complaining but I will offer an observation threads seem to be dying rather rapidly lately.
