Retiring to Udon

PostAuthor: timthebrit » December 21, 2007, 9:33 pm

I have been married (very happily) to a girl from Udon for almost 6 years. I actually met her here in England and did not even travel to Thailand until after our English marriage. My first trip to Thailand (and Udon) was December 2002. We return every year for the New Year and we will be in Udon for one week of this year's three week trip - from 30 Dec - 6 Jan. We already own 6 rai of land in a small village about 8 miles out of town.

I would like to meet up with a few ex-pats this year to discuss the 'pros and cons' of retiring/building a house etc in Udon. Could anyone suggest the best place to meet a few who might be willing to have a chat?

After 6 years, I am fully aware of the issues around the rest of the family moving into my retirement home etc, but would really like a chat about the bigger picture. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

Cheers!

Welcome Tim,

A few ex-pats who are settled in Udon Thani meet at 12 o'clock in the Irish Clock on a Saturday afternoon. Or you can field your questions on here.

Thanks again Laphanphon. As I say, I will certainly try the Clock and definitely be at the night market on Jan 5.
