Rules for extensions

PostAuthor: isaanlawyers » July 27, 2008, 4:43 am

I saw many topics about visa, old rules, new rules, mixing visa, extensions, etc.

The rules for extension of visa in Thailand are here:
(It's not NOV 2004...it's October 2006)

http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/2n ... p606EN.pdf

Look under:

7.1 Business (Salary required at the end in the ANNEX, 4 Thai employees per foreigner, 2 million baht registered company, etc)
7.5 Teacher (public school)
7.6 Teachers (private school)
7.17 Marriage 40K/month
7.17 (5) Support of a Thai child
7,19 Dependant (normally)
7,20 Charity
7.21 Retirement 65K per month or 800K bank

These are the most common. Everything is there, documents required, etc. But they really don't apply the same rules everywhere...

Sebastian.

Because people are still asking if it's 400K or 40K per month for marriage extension. (read 7.17) I saw it on this section.

Because people don't understand what documents are needed for an extension based on retirement. (read 7.21)

Because someone asked about support of a child criteria in the LAW recently in this section. 7.17 (5) I also saw it in this section.

Even if this document is 2 years old, these are the rules applying right now, with some small modifications. We work much more in corporate clients, real estate and family law. We don't need visas to survive or make us successful!

There is always a problem of credibilty associated with Internet: who is posting and why. You have the DIRECT LINK to immigration rules. You can do what you want with it, even call another law firm. And if it was someone else than us posting it, would you call it advertising? I doubt it.

Recently, many people thanked us to put some stuff from the Thai commercial and civil of Thailand on our website. Provinding information is something nice, don't you think? It's up to you... These people were from this forum, Udonmap, as we didn't participate a lot or advertise here before.

Is it possible to our ONLY intention was to provide a good link explaining all the rules for extensions?

Personally Sebastian, I think it's an excellent post with information that is too often asked and re-asked by forum members. We now have a link (URL) to direct those posters to and can be sure the information is correct. Since it's in PDF format, I've downloaded it for future use.

THANKS,
:D

Agreed a very helpful post. I especially liked the bit at the beginning that stated "The following rules and conditions are hereby prescribed as guidelines for the immigration bureau to follow" Guidelines, this is a question asked many times as to why one office grants a visa when the other does'nt, its all to do with interpretation by the individuals concerned. Ya just keep learning all the time :D
