Senior Member - Ageism or number of posts?

PostAuthor: JimboPSM » September 25, 2005, 10:10 pm

I have noticed that under their posting name some members have "Senior Member".

I was thinking that there may be something ageist about this as it only appears against certain members names; as these include Paul & LA a possible conclusion was that it was age related (a "non sequitur" which fits in fine with some of the posts on the forum)

However, as I like to be reasonably sure of my facts before casting nasturtiums, I did think that it could also possibly relate to the number of posts made. Yesterday I noticed that Dakoda had 199 posts and was not a Senior, today he has 200 posts and is a Senior; so now I think it is probably related to number of posts.

Admin, is this correct? If so, there are some interesting classifications on other forums such as "Won't Shut Up", "Furniture", "Forum Dinosaur" etc, just wondering if we can do something similar other than making someone look like a pensioner at 200 posts?

Jimbo, who decides on these classifications on other sites? Admin?? (If so Jeab you are gona have some power in the future - not that you don't now of course... ) Or do each of us get a list of 'possibles' against our profile with other members permitted to vote & largest vote is your designation??
Wow, that could lead to some interesting times, especially if you could see how others voted for you... :D

Jimbo:

Your comments are 'noted' - especially the age-related comments!!! :(

How can you possibly group me with LA ????

I think its just sour grapes because you haven't reached 'senior' yet, however when you get here permenantly - you will have nothing else to do, so you can then join the ranks of LA and myself :)

I've only met Paul from here, I sure would'nt class him as a senior...as I hope that he wouldn't class me as one, jeez I'm only 34

I'm not really sure that the post count handles are really relevant to anything at all imo, after all I gained most of mine from posting trash , well 99% anyway.

As for Wile E. Coyote, he's always been my idol ;)

you should be so lucky. denial is one of the first signs of senility, or is it, forgetting that you are in denial. it's ok. you're only in your 40's. and i just left the 40's. 50 is a nice round number, it's nice qualifying for retirement visa.

Senior is by number of posts, over 200 posts makes you a senior member not senior citizen LOL

We would be more than happy to hear your ideas for titles 200 posts =? 300 posts =? etc

let's hear those suggestions and we'll put them into place. :D

Thought for sure that Admin was using a complex mathematical formula including, but not limited to, the number of times one has exhibited memory lapses, misspelled words, and average times logged onto the forum daily to determine how advanced the Alzheimer's is for each poster. :P

That is a nice thought but simply cannot be true. Otherwise I would be a VERY senior member by now - unless Jeab is being uncommonly (joke honest Admin.. :D ) pleasant towards me...
