Just checking in, through blood shot eyes but no hangover. Day 1 of Songkran was a blast as always but it seemed a little "tamer" than last year :-s

Still a little early here but in a few hours I'll be ready to dive head first back into the madness :drunk:

Hey Rito I drove by Pop_Pop's yesterday and was disappointed there was no "zapper" attacks  Well today is a new day and a new chance for renewed attacks. I can see the truck or the family battle wagon is being readied for day 2 of the war. Large barrels of water, check, beer, check, camera and fresh batteries, check, beer, check, adjust attitude and ready oneself for the madness, check, and did I say beer? :guiness: :drunk: Image

Hi,
Seen it all, idiots on ring road running on to the second lane with hose pipes to spray cars travelling at 90K. Where has common sense gone, if they every had it. I don't mind water being chucked over me but this, along with pickups, with more idiots in the back, chucking water into the face of motor bike riders while travelling at 60K is senseless.
Cheers Doug.

Never mind here it is:

Cabinet announces Thursday, Friday extra holidays

Published on April 14, 2009

Deputy PM's Secretary-General and acting Government Spokesman Panithan Wattanayakorn announced Tuesday that the Cabinet resolved to declare Thursday and Friday extra holidays.

The two days were declared extra holidays to enable the authorities to keep law and order and rehabilitate bulding and facilities damaged during the riots by protesters.

State enterprises, banks and the Labour Ministry were allowed to consider whether to take the two days off on case-by-case basis.

Well after some arm twisting I headed out for yet another day of battle. This time I stayed inside the truck to get some pictures of the madness. All went well till we made it Nong Pajark Park and I was taken from the truck, handed a beer, and joined in the fun.

I'm happy to report I saw nothing bad happen during the holiday. The only think I saw was around the hospital a guy had cut his foot badly and his friend was carrying him piggy-back to the hospital, well done for his friend =D> I suffered slight injuries too, I also had a very minor cut to my foot and leg from stepping on a bottle in the back of the truck.

One very funny thing I did see is the Thai version of a "mosh pit" at a musical tent with all the crew wearing black t-shirts saying "Smoking Area". From time to time one of the crew was hosted up and placed on the ground, not thrown, and surrounded and had water kicked over them. They were then helped up and smiles all around. The sights, sounds, and action of Songkran IMO could be summed up in two words, pure joy! :guitar: \:D/ :guitar: 8-[

It's now time to start packing up for the long trip back into the bush. School starts next month and I still have to finish 8 or 9 computers to get ready for my students. I should be back in a month or 2 to see everyone at the meeting. I did take a Udon tradition with me to the bush and now Maha Sarakham has a monthly meeting on the last Saturday of the month.
