Whatever happened to the option to make 90 day reports at local police stations if living in remote locations? Or were they a figment of someone's imagination?

Leaving the country and reporting 90 days later? Wouldn't you need a re-entry permit to do that and keep your visa intact?

Can you get a re-entry permit at the office at the bridge, or is it only obtainable at the main office???

It (re-entry permit) seems to only be available at the office you obtained your extension of stay now - so that would be the main office if obtained in Nong Khai I suspect. More reason than ever to obtain both when doing annual extension of stay if you have any suspicion that you will travel.

Lopburi3,

Do you know if the 90 day report can be done at police stations in more remote locations?

This is an Immigration specific report (TM.47 form) and needs to be filed with Immigration - believe it would be well beyond the scope/knowledge of a local police station (and expect they would like to keep it that way). It appears mail reporting to Bangkok is still an option regardless of your location. I would expect all offices to provide the service if Bangkok removes itself as an option. But this has been a seeing-eye-dog process from its revival a few years ago so don't hold up too much hope. It should either be removed from enforcement or modify to take advantage of the internet in my opinion.

You can file your 90 day address report by mail from anywhere in Thailand. This is according to this page (URL below) on the Immigration Bureau website:
http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en ... age=90days

You may be thinking about reporting the need to report that you have taken up residence (which needs to be done within 24 hours or arriving). The explanation below was copied from the Immigration Bureau wesite.
http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en ... =alienstay

------------------------ Start quoted text------------------------
According to section 38 of the 1979 immigration act, "House owners, heads of household, landlords or managers of hotels who accommodate foreign nationals on a temporary basis who stay in the kingdom legally, must notify the local immigration authorities within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the foreign national." If there is no immigration office in the province or locality of the respective house or hotel, the notification is made to the local police station. In Bangkok the notification is made to the Immigration Bureau. The notification of residence of foreign nationals is made by the manager of licensed hotels according to the hotel act, owners of guesthouses, mansions, apartments and rented houses using the form TM. 30.
The notification of residence of foreign nationals within 24 hours can be made in a number of ways to make the notification as convenient as possible:

* In person at the respective office, or
* Through an authorised person at the respective office, or
* By registered mail, or
* Via internet.
