Hello does anybody know if a taxi service exists that runs from Nong Khai to Udon Thani?

I have some friends coming over from Laos and would like to take this opportunity to view some of the sites on the way.

Yep, The Travel shop at Suksant Hotel (Prajak Road) or the louts, sorry touts, at the bridge will arrange one for about 700 baht.

The Suksant guy is pleasant enough, takes you in a small minibus, but drives rather slow and often stops at a Travel Shop on the outskirts of Udon. I've used him primarily to take me to Udon airport.

The guys around the bridge would take you to Laos and back as well.

700 baht sounds reasonable, I will give the Suksant hotel man a try as it's pretty local to me.

Udon Kaew Tour has mini-vans going to/from Udon/Airport all day long (for every flight). Cost I believe is THB 150 - used to be THB 100. They're quite good with air tickets as well.

At the common spot on the left after making a left just past Lotus on the road to the train station/bridge, where so many shops seem to be.

They are OK IF you live within the city limits,OR IF youre Thai the driver will drop you at your door for NO EXTRA charge,I Live 5 kms OFF the Phonpisai highway ( STILL Nong Khai ) but Being Farang the driver TOLD me he wanted an EXTRA 200 Baht to travel this 5 kms,I Said NO,So he stopped the Minibus out in Watthat ( Where he had just dropped his last passenger ( A Youngish 25 yo Thai Female off ) and promptly TOLD me to get out as he was going back to his office,AND he threw my 2 Bags on the ground at the back of the Minibus !! I Did report him to The Manager a couple of days later,Who phoned me the next day and said "He had done this before to other Farangs " and said he had told the " Big Boss "in Udon ( I Dont know if this part is true or not ) but the Driver was supposed to have got 2 weeks suspension....This happened last Month ( June ) BTW The Fare is 200 Baht from Airport to Nong Khai........

Yeah, they are fine as long as you're on "the route". Last time I took them I offered to pay at UTH Airport & he told me to wait. Then he dropped me off at the Tha Bo intersection & drove away while I was digging for the money.

They sometimes try to get you on board at the airport without buying a ticket - for obvious reasons. Then again, they sometimes forget they did this. What goes round, comes round, I guess.

Dude, But this is'nt the 1st time I have used them,BUT it's the ONLY time I have had a ploblem,Every other time I just told the drivers where I lived and THEY have taken me to my door without even blinking and thus I always give them 50 baht "Tip" and they all seemed quite happy with that. ...BUT as I said THIS Driver DEMANDED 200 Baht ,after firstly saying HE did'nt know the place I live...Total BS !!
