Tha Sadet Market, Nong Khai

PostAuthor: Sean » July 2, 2009, 8:29 pm

Tha Sadet Market runs adjacent to the Mekong River in the main Muang area of Nong Khai city.

It is probably the main shopping area in the city, for products from the Indochina and Eastern European regions of the world, including dried and processed food, utensils, electrical appliances, cloths, watches and kitchenware etc.

It is open every day of the week from 7.00 until around 18.30.

Visitors from all over come to see and buy products for sale here.

On top of that, it is also a local checkpoint for Thai people to cross the border in Laos, all other nationalities have to go through the formalities at the Thai-Laos friendship bridge checkpoint.

That's a good bit of info, didn't know that one.

Tha Sadet, one of my favourite places, I bought a socket set there for 500 baht about ten years back, still use it....are you still awake? :sleepy:

Aside from the fish restaurants, there's some good food outlets further down.

Yeah, my TW is more canny than a Scotsman with a tight purse and arthritic fingers. I usually have to draft a robust business case for anything that I'm thinking of purchasing.
