Do a GOOGLE search on "thai linux" , you'll find that there is support for linux in Thailand. There is also an in-country distribution site.

Many thanks, CW. I did Google it and got this site:

http://linux.thai.net/

That LibThai project looks interesting. What I was thinking about was installing a Linux OS on a laptop with Thai applications, which was why I was asking about Open Office in Thai on another thread.

There are actually a number of Thai support sites for Linux. If you want to try Linux, the first decision you need to make is the distribution you will use. I use and recommend Ubuntu, which is very active, resulting in good support on the various forums. Thai and most other languages are well supported in most of the Linux distributions. Also, ThaiVisa has an active Linux group that you maybe interested in. I currently run Ubuntu on a Lenovo X61 and will soon be putting it on an Acer AspireOne (after I do a memory and HD upgrade to it). Mac and Linux are pretty much all I run now-a-days.

The price is right! Free. Good luck.

I'll take your advice, many thanks.

I've already used one Linux distro (ark linux?) and I've got Ubuntu on disc so I'll give it a go.

I also recommend Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com/), If you are new to Linux...
But when you familiar with Linux and want the distro that you can fully customize and choose which package to install or not... I recommend Arch Linux (http://www.archlinux.org/).
