Stayed in Top Mansion while in town to watch the Oz footy on the weekend.

Great location, nice place, but oh!, those hard beds.

Place was easy to book (on Thursday, for Friday), and was nowhere near to full.

Maybe that is why Top Mansion 2 seems to have been put on ice....

Bob I assume TM2 was/is to be located where the car park is currently.

If that is the case, I hope they include plenty of (accessible) parking spaces in the new building, as there is virtually nothing in TM1, and the car park was pretty full.

Imagine all those extra vehicles parked in the street

No, TM2 is to be located on the waste ground between The Irish Clock & Day & Night. It is a big site & there should have been plenty of room for parking next to it. I have heard a number of rumours as to why it isn't being built yet. I suspect that it is financial & they feel without something significant built opposite Robinson they are not going to get enough new customers attracted to Udon to fill a new hotel.

The car park was always a mystery to me as well. If ever I came back late there was never any room in the 'parking bays'. Personally I suspected that the car park was being used (either with the knowledge of TM or without :D ) by the locals who live in the street. There were often far more cars in the car park than customers.... :D :D

Now in case that makes me look a liar. I was trying to book on Friday for 3 nights including the Saturday, which was full. They did suggest i tried later on Sat in case they had a cancellation for that night but I wasn't inclined to do so.
I have noticed previously that if you don't book a couple of days at least,in advance, for a Saturday night, it is invariably full.
I think you find the car hire guy keeps his fleet in the car park when not out on hire.

TB if it was full, people were certainly keeping a low profile.

I have never booked ahead when I go to Udon but I try Top Mansion first every time. (3 times) So far I still have yet to stay there. Booked out every time.
Not a problem as I always get a room at Irish Clock or Ruy Suk. Apart from handy location it sounds like all I'm missing out on is hard beds.
Must be very quiet at the present time.
Can't wait to get back to Udon cause I like it when it's quiet. :-#

I think the hard beds are the very last thing, guests at the Top Mansion, worry about.
I would have thought maintaining a viable erection would be the most pressing concern.

Construction now appears to have started on Top Mansion 2. At least the ground is being levelled, I suppose they could equally be building a car park.... :D :D
