I heard there was fourth cable broken a few days earlier. What a coincidence! Three (or four, depending on how you count) cabled accidentally but myterriously broken at the nearly the same time. And we had the same situation earlier in the year -again in the same general area -three cables accidentally cut at the same time. How unlucky! ;)

I guess there are some important resources that cannot be effectively protected.

One of the posters mentioned that he took his modem to TOT and got it 'upgraded' to a faster speed. If the speed is limited by your modem, why not buy your own modem and it won't have these restrictions? I'm paying for the 2 M connection from TOT but their modem was crap (fraught with slow speeds and many drop-outs) so I brought out my old wireless modem that I had purchased in Pattaya in '05. I took out the TOT modem and put in my Netgear unit and BOOM, my speed increased tremendously plus my drop-outs have nearly stopped completely.

From 9 AM until about 5-6 PM I have some slow periods but in the night and early mornings I have no problems at all with downloading video streams with absolutely no buffering... just click and play. Granted my machine is a new Macintosh but this shouldn't make any difference on internet speed. BTW, I sold my old Mac to my sister-in-law who lives 50 meters away and she is using my wireless connection at her house on the older Mac and she doesn't have any problems either. :-" :-({|=

TT&T supplied me with ASUS modem. but after reading your post I am sorry I did not invest in a better modem now I do not think it would be a good investment because I will be moving out to the village were I will have to get a satellite internet connection so the modem may not work with that but I will look in to modems that exceed the one they give me

Whether it be that the broken cables have been repaired or the volume of traffic has increased since businesses have opened after the New Year the international transfer speeds have once again reverted to a snails speed. Of course it does not affect sites within Asia but downloading from USA sites has once again been a nightmare. :-& #-o
