Tractor Rentals

Are there any equipment rental places in Udon? I'm looking for a Bobcat or similar type of tractor to do some ground work.

Well, that was my observation also. I had not noticed any Bobcats in my travels, either. When I looked up Bobcat online, I found there was no Bobcat dealers in Thailand. So, there wouldn't be any tractors unless someone has brought one in on his own. But, back to my basic question, are there any equipment rental businesses in Udon where I could rent a tractor to do some ground work?

From my experience (but that was not in Udon City, in the villages), if you ask around then someone will be recommended. These are nearly always people who own a single vehicle & operate it themselves. They will come look at the job & then give you a price. You might want to get a couple of these "single operators" to come to get a fair price (they are not cheap compared to many things in Thailand)- usually whoever is recommending them has a "vested interest" :D
Personally i haven't seen a heavy equipment rental business in Udon itself - but then I haven't really been looking.

where we are building , we got one of the locals with his tractor to come and level the ground .he spent about four hours levelling up one and a half rai , charged us 500 baht . the price was agreed at the outset . was very friendly and helpful , and made sure we were happy before he finnished. back to the original post , there is a place that rents out small plant on the ring road just down from harrys bar , on the opposite side . i dont know if they do small dozers or not , but it could be worth a try . but i really think your best bet is to get a local .

Ok, Thanks. My wife has been talking to our neighbor. He was going to look around for someone with a tractor for us. First quote we got was 200BHT/ sq meter which I thought was a bit steep. I'll use a shovel and a wheel barrow before I'll that pay that much. We are not in a hurry so we have time to look around. Thanks, again.

I'm not sure if this place has bobcats or not but it's worth a try: yim-siam-engineering-cranes-tractors-housebuilding-t10544.html
