When they blessed our car at the wat, we got a nice paper with it stating this blessing was only valid up to a speed of 120 km/h! Even Buddah can not protect you above that speed ;-).

I wasn't told that... He did his artistry on the roof and I though that meant I can drive at any speed and on any side of the road that I like. :-s

The stories about people that hypnotise others and then steal from them are pervasive around Thailand. I don't know what the truth is but do know people that it has happened to, one almost had a small child taken..... I tend to believe them. Some people are more suseptable to hypnosis,,, right?

I just spoke to the missus about this and she is 100% sure it happens. The old "In my village" story ensued and apparently it such a potent drug that a mere touch of the fingertip will render the recipient totally brainless. They will give all their belongings willingly but still have enough grey matter working to remember PIN numbers and hand them over to.
I slipped into the conversation that perhaps this was a cover story for, lets say gambling losses and was scolded. "Why you laugh, can ask Police if not believe"

Loon Lee, "Some people are more suseptable to hypnosis,,, right?", no, not really. You are only susceptible to suggestions if your willing to be susceptible. It is impossible to hypnotise someone who is not receptive to th idea. That is not to say, however, that some people are not more receptive to the idea than others.

That's confirmation enough for me. Likely several million others have a vague recollection of similar happenings. =P~ :? :-k #-o

I think the powder taken through the skin could be possible to put people into a trance. But a lot of things could do that. Like when i get the electric/gas bill at home after the winter knowing how my daughter and grand-daughter feel the cold, the amount due being very high, sends me into a trance.

But ghosts DO exist, they do! A US programme, 'TAPS', or 'Ghosthunters' more than prove this. If anyone ever sees this programme, the haunted lighthouse is pretty scary! :yikes:

Also i can vouch for a 'tube tale'. At a station, South Ealing, the supervisor on duty who is a very honest man, told this story. One dark cold night, he saw off the last Heathrow train with the green light, as is the custom. It was about 0110. He saw that no-one got off the train, so was going back to his office. Then he heard a footfall on the stairs from the platform. A business man came up the stairs. The supervisor saw him to the station gates, and let him out.

Thinking, i don't know how i missed this guy getting off the last train. So he checked the video tape. And, he sees himself escorting to the exit, opening the gate and letting out, no-one! The business man did not show on tape. The story is true, i am sure. Maybe this business man left the station, got on a plane, and came to Thailand to cause havoc for you, who knows! :D

After being around awhile, I'd have to agree with Texpat. A good excuse, after losing at hi/low or pok dang all day, on how everything that YOU paid for disappeared. It always has a way of costing YOU money one way or another, whether it's YOU paying for a monk blessing for the house, car or rice field.
Ingenious people really. Insead of just saying they don't want to go somewhere or don't want to do something, the ghost stories always come out. Kind of the same with farang food, if they can't afford it, they will say they don't like it, pizza, etc., but if you bought it already, it will dissappear in a second.
All apart of being non-confrontational, but getting what they want none the less.
I still love it here though and enjoy the games :D I always find it amusing when farangs talk about how stupid thais are and then follow it with how much money they lost to a thai for one reason or another. Who's stupid? :-({|= Gotta love it #-o
