Thai Leader To Step Down

The Thai Prime Minister has said he will step down following his party's disappointing showing in national elections.
"I am sorry that I will not accept the premier post," Thaksin Shinawatra told a news conference.
The embattled leader said he would remain as caretaker head of government until he is replaced.
"We have no time to quarrel. I want to see Thai people unite and forget what has happened," he said.
Thaksin made the announcement shortly after meeting with King Bhumibol Adulyadej at his palace in southern Hua Hin.
He won 57% of Sunday's ballot but many opposition groups and scores of voters boycotted.
Some 38 constituencies were left without winners because uncontested candidates did not get enough votes to take the seat.
The constitution says parliament cannot convene until all seats are filled.
Opposition groups have since staged large protests against Thaksin - amid allegations of corruption and abuse of power.
They vowed to call off the protests as soon as Thaksin resigned and he appears to have bowed to the demands.
"Let's clean up our house and stop the chaos," he said.

If Thaksin really does step down, the way of life here in Thailand may or may not change. As far as getting worst, I really don't think that will happen. If you noticed the Thai baht has held it's value, and actually has gotten stronger, even with the political situation before and after the snap elections. Now the real reality is whether or not he actually steps down. Thaksin has been know to say one thing and do another, time will tell.
