Tungsi Muang Festival Udon Thani 2008

PostAuthor: tawan3 » December 2, 2008, 11:46 am

This year’s Tungsi Muang Festival was bigger and better than last year. I arrived late and missed the street parade because my mother had to have cataract surgery. I did arrive in time for the opening ceremony at the fairgrounds. Just as last year I did not win any prize at the fair. The Red Cross booth had the best prizes giving away several motorcycles. The rides, food and games were very enjoyable.

Peace from Udon Thani, Thailand.

I walked over from the in-law's shop house the other day and had a bit of a look around. The traffic has been pretty congested in the area.

Bought a few music cd's and did some price comparisons on selected pieces of wood furniture. Will go back to make my purchases in the final days when prices may be more flexible.

I bought a number of house plants and pots during the last festival there.

I'ts a "good fun" couple of weeks, with some quite good bands on stage in the evening.
Can't remember if it was 2 or 3 years ago 'Dan & Beam' were there (Still D2B in those days as 'Big' was in hospital after his accident). Only about 1000 people there, so plenty of room to sit on the grass and listen whilst supping a beer. :guitar: :guitar: :guitar:
Been warned to stay away though, when Excarribou? is due to perform, as there are bound to be plenty of fights developing amongst the Thai lads and anyone who "gets in their way".
Not that I would have gone anywhere near the place with him playing anyway :freak:

we went there yesterday and our (schi Tzu) went missing.. Im pretty sure one of the stall holders took him but trying to outsmart them is difficult.. On the off chance that someone saw a small white and brown Schi Tzsu wandering around there please PM me..

Its just that he never wanders off, we never watched him for about 30 seconds. The stall holder closest has a schi tzu and a puppy. The old lady sent each one of us in different directions to find him... They have him for sure but just cant prove it...

i avoid that place like the plaque. possible one stop during early day, when empty, just to see if anything new, other than the usual junk trinkets and overprices furniture and plants. then as mentioned, maybe a stop on last day, when a bargain might be found. besides that, 2 weeks of wide berth. loud music, dirty food, and a dust bowl. fights at concerts, and late night, hopefully no longer, the guns come out and shoot at the moon, yahoo. and the joy of parking...

We were there on the first night. And one would THINK that with 200 food vendors there would be ONE garbage can , we did not do the dust bowl, just skirted the edges. So when i finshed slurping my drink I just tossed it like everyone else, ah I think I am getting it !What a pigsty

You didn't know the world is your garbage dump? It's obvious in Thailand.

You'd contribute to unemployment in Thailand with your idea. What would the sweepers do for a living? How irresponsible.

Throw it on the ground and know that you're contributing to the economy. It'll all look nice and clean at 7am after the sweepers are done. Of course at 9pm it's a fright, but by then, hopefully, you're well on the road to alcoholic oblivion.

Throw your leftovers on the ground, and you help to sustain the "food chain".

With no Rats, mice, ants, cockroaches, worms etc half of Udon would go hungry :yikes:

So here we arrive from another traffic packed afternoon in udon.Had a damn fine scoff at zap,had my fill of meat and fries! Met a couple of interesting folk with the tw.
Returned home, got out of the car to be treated to the putrid aroma of burning plastic/garbage once again, I gazed out over the darkened field,to see a small but radiant fire going, along with a fellow tending the blaze.Pure toxicity, escaped to the house ,where with all the windows closed ,and the air con on full,we are hopeing to clean the air by midnight.
So this is 2 million years of evolution!
