I flew back from Chiang Mai last night. There were no protesters at Chiang Mai. When I arrived at Udon there was a small noisy crowd at the departure entrance, but also plenty of Police around. It didnt seem to be affecting anybody.

Chiang Mai was very quiet. I flew there on Monday night and the plane was not even half full. On the way back last night it was packed!

showed the PPP supporters already in the airport, maybe they left again later, but approx 50-80 were shown on the news sitting down, in the baggage collection area.

This was probably the advance er er er brigade.
Heard they were going to the airport, but didn't understand when

Ok, went into TG offices in Udon this afternoon and the following events occured.

"What problem ??? All flights are on time "

So what did Channel 7 broadcast last night on Udon TV then ? i saw approx 50 people in red shirts sitting down at the baggage reclaim area and airport manager saying airport is closed.

ahhhh, that problem, ummm well after the TV crews filmed it, the red shirts agreed to leave the buliding and allow the airport to operate again.

Sorry for asking TG !

Also pls note , all afternoon flights for Udon, Khon Kaen and Ubon have now been cancelled till 31/3/09 and to be reviewed again.

It seems that an English lady was right after all, when interviewed in a BKK hotel, when will the children realise just how much damage they are doing.
For me it is a Thai problem started by Thais and needs to be sorted out by Thais, it may possibly effect me but I doubt it.
igf it effects the strength of the baht.Good
if it effects my personal heal;th .Not Good
if it upsets important people in Udon .Good then they might just do something.
Apart from that I do not give flying F*** what they do, as long asthey leave me alone.
I suggest we all just sit and wait and see, children will after all be children, won't they.

Great, just great!

With the Suvarnabhumi mess two weeks back, I drove to Utapao to collect elder sister of my partner with her twin daughters, 4 years old. Chaos there; sister certainly couldn’t have coped ‘alone’ with the children in tow. Staff doing best they could, but well stressed. No technology in use, just a whiteboard with incoming/outgoing flights. ONE small conveyer belt for claiming baggage, so with the arrival of several flights, people five or six deep. Again, no idea what baggage had been unloaded. The single building housing departures/arrivals probably less than 100 meters long, so one can imagine the crowding.

Now her husband due to arrive Bangkok/Udon THIS Monday. Isn’t that when the new PM is to be decided, which one side or the other will not be happy with. Aaaaggghhh!

Agree that this hassle is surely going to put many off bothering to visit Thailand.

Sister is returning to Europe in February. She’ll need help again (husband having to return to work earlier). I wonder if I face a fight with Thai Airways/Air Asia to give me ‘free’ flights for the previously pre-paid, cancelled ones(I was to meet sister/kids in Bangkok). The latter was a particularly cheap deal, so will they try and make me pay any difference now?
