while we are on this, i'm interested in setting up wifi in the house and using AIS cell phone as the server. 3 laptops all wifi. guessing need a router/modem, but the software for AIS is in the 17 in, so router needs a feed to 17in laptop and back to transmitt. am i close???

obviously haven't done much research yet, but kind of know the basics for dsl/cable, direct line to server, where this won't be.

thx. 8)

You can use the mobile as you do now and use an ethernet mini switch for the local network.

I have one here if you want to try it first.

Don't you need a wi-fi supported mobile phone..?..not all mobiles have this facility.

Some of those that have is The latest Nokia N96 or nok 5800 or some Sony Ericssons for example.

Ahh, I forgot you wanted a wireless network.

Bluetooth would do it. You can buy USB Bluetooth thingys fairly cheaply.

LA,

I think bluetooth would be a better option for you, if not all your PC/Laptops are bluetooth compatible I have a spare dongle-thingy you can have.

Do you mean you want to use your mobile for the internetconnection?? If so, you can install Jokuspot on your mobile and your mobile will become a hotspot. If you let your netbooks search for networks, it will find your mobile and you can start browsing. You need a WIFI-phone for this solution (N95/N96 for example)
