Unwanted Popups

PostAuthor: PopsIcafe » August 19, 2005, 6:34 am

I had recently downloaded some software and after installing, I started getting popups. I finally found out searchweb2 was the culperit. I did some serarching on www.searchweb2 and found they had an unistaller for thier search engine. I went to bottom of the page, www.searchweb2.com and clicked on "help", then scrolled down to where it tells you how to uninstall. Click on the download of the unintaller to desktop, run it and follow the directions. You shouldn't have any more popups if that is what is causing the popups.

1. go to www.searchweb2.com

2. scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "HELP"

3. click on "How do I uninstall your software products?"

4. go to 4th paragraph and click on "download here"

it's an universal uninstaller, save it to desktop, run it and you shouldn't have your popups.

Hope this helps with the popups you all are getting.

Pop's :pirate:

Start using Firefox as your default internet browser then all of those annoying little IE exploits will become a thing of the past...

I guess that is a pc answer to problems! I tried it a while back for the Mac, it was ok, (think it is still on other computer), but I found the other clone "Camino" to be better and its still beta .82 (I think). Lately with this box been using Safari mostly! But with all things Mac, sometimes you just need a work-around! 8)

Do you mean pop ups as in the little boxes in the corner usually full of adverts or are we talking about website - redirects where the page you are on suddenly becomes another unasked for page.?

I have a pop up blocker which appears to work quite well but still get bugged by redirects more than I care to.

me, pop-ups you know those little ads for things you really want!

unless I click on something, have never been redirected, except like this site, when you don't click it sends you back somewhere, you know those little messages that say "if you do nothing you will be sent somewhere"

speaking of this site "How come I now need to log on to read only" :?:

kind of defeats the topic where anyone can post! By the way just started today! I figured it was a problem someone caused by accident and will be corrected in next couple of days! 8)

Mandatory Sign-On

PostAuthor: Garnet » August 20, 2005, 8:53 am

I've only noticed it within the last day, as well. Because of limitations on my time, I often check in without signing on just to see if there's a post in a specific area that I've been paying attention to. You see, I hate signing in and having all of the yellow indicators show, and not have time to check them out because I'm at work with only a couple of spare minutes. When I do come back later with more available time, the yellow indicators are no longer there, of course, and I have to explore through trial and error to update myself on all of the latest postings I've missed because I had to log off on the prior occasion.

The world still turns, but it's a nuisance to not be able to cheat and read without the sign-on.

We have set up the forum for members only so we can get more of an idea how many people use this site. Also if we have any news relating to our sponsors then we can send it out in a news letter to all our members and make sure that everyone is informed.

Signing on as a member is pretty straight forward, all that is needed is a name, username, email address and tick a few boxes so I hope it hasn't inconvenienced any of the browsers?

unless I click on something, have never been redirected, except like this site, when you don't click it sends you back somewhere, you know those little messages that say "if you do nothing you will be sent somewhere"

Dakoda, we don't use any form of re-direct software or pop-ups so I don't know what you mean about that. Our web hosting company says that there are no bugs on our server so you must have an infection on your own computer. All we use are Google adverts which have no forms of pop-ups or re-directs. It may be possible that you accidentally clicked on one and thought that it was a re-direct?

What I was talking about is when one clicks on "mark all as read" or when you post a message, a page shows up and if you do nothing in a few seconds it sends you to a new page of the site. Just something that is normal with any site! 8) sorry for the confusion.

Oh, I agree with Garnet on login every time, guess it means when I have little time, will not bother to stop by, oh well.

Just get yourself some password manager software, then it only takes a single click to log in, Roboform's a good choice and offer a free version.

This is completely off-track but everytime I notice the heading of this thread, while browsing, I immediately click on it without thinking because I thought I saw "Unwanted Pups". I admit that I am an animal person.

There is some very good information about pop-ups in here, though. Also, I wonder if BB is as good at butchering as he seems to be with computers? This is meant as a compliment, not being a wiseguy.

Ah, well. Back to my browsing/lurking. :)

"Unwanted Pups", hmm, now theres a thought for a new topic , maybe better in the classified section though, mind you, going on that other recent thread, I think they would be sold to that bunch in Sakhon Nakhon who would prep them for kebabs :(.

I have often considered a change of career polehawk, but unfortunately I do not have the paper qualifications to help prove my skills in the IT industry, and it's a little too late for me to start at the bottom again :?

As for butchering, yep i'm ok at it, albeit a little modest ;)
