Us Visitor B-1 visa requirments for a single Thai

PostAuthor: Bump » May 17, 2008, 9:26 am

I already tried looking it up I found the form DS 156. as to the actual requirements in Bangkok, that portion won't open up.

Thus far this is the impression I get if the person owns a home Thailand and has a bank account and income they may or may not qaulify. Seems all to hinge on will that person come back. to Thailand. I also understand having entries of leaving Thailand and returning is a benefit. I have also found tha you can't walk in, yuo have to sit an appointment and there was some mention of a requirement of a courrier service fro returmn of docments, but tha wasn;t clear.

On the main site they mention a requirment of a security clearance. It say you will be fingerprinted there, is that going to be it or will you need a clearance through the Thai government?

Any health certificates required?

It's hard to believe knowing government that one form is all that is required.

Any input will be appreciated

Maybe this will help you http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/non-immigr ... ments.html

Appointments are for interviews by the embassy and that is when you know if you got the visa or not. I have heard rumors that a lot of the visas are disapproved.

Slightly off the subject but this is my experience for a UK tourist visa
I went with the wife on Monday to the visa application centre in BKK

We were met by a woman at the door to the street.
She took us upstairs to an office.
Turns out it was an agency, tried to get 25,000 bhat to apply.
The office is right beside the application centre so beware.

We had all the forms filled in plus additional information(house book, photos, letter ect)
They then wanted my bank statements for the last 6 months which was not on the list of documents.
I had not brought them with me.
All this just for a tourist visa !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They only allow the applicant to enter the office, scanned, frisked and bag and phone left in a locker.

The Faschist Police state rides again.

She had to go back on Wednesday to try again.
She paid a fee for the passport to be returned to her by courier.
It was very busy and took a couple of hours to process.
We still do not know if she got it or not.

Bump,

I don't have solid facts as to how the system works, but I can relate 3 cases.

My wife's niece (26) is a university grad with a good employment, single, no property owned and traveled out of LOS once. She applied for a visa with a letter from her employer, was approved and given a 10 year visa.

My brother in law (niece's father), is married, university educated, school administrator, owns house and two cars with modest savings in bank. Applied for visa and denied because he's never traveled outside LOS.

Lastly, a friend, US citizen living here applied for a tourist visa for his wife. She was approved but was only granted 6 months.
