ACS Outreach

Khon Kaen - May 1, 2009

Dear Khon Kaen Area American Citizens,

The Consular Section of the American Embassy in Bangkok is pleased to inform you of the upcoming consular outreach visit to Khon Kaen on May 1, 2009. Please come if you can!

Consular staff will be available to provide consular services at the following location:

Friday, May 1, 2009, 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Pullman Khon Kaen Raja Orchid, at 9/9 Prachasumran Road, Nai Muang, Muang, Khon Kaen, Thailand, 40000, telephone: 043-322-155.

The following consular services will be available during our outreach visits:

*
Passport renewal applications ($75.00 or Baht 2550 for adult passports, and $85 or Baht 2890 for a child’s passport).

*
Notarial Services and Certified Copies ($30.00 or Baht 1020). This includes income affidavits for retirees in Thailand.

*
Social security, VA or other federal benefits questions will be limited, but we will try to provide forms and answers.

(Please bring exact change!)

NOTE: We cannot process extra visa pages during our outreach trips. We can accept applications, but the passports will have to be brought back to the Embassy for final processing the next day. The passports will then have to be picked up in person (or by a friend upon presentation of a letter of authorization signed by the applicant) at the Embassy. We regret any inconvenience caused by this change in procedure.

Additionally, Consular Reports of Birth cannot be processed during consular outreach trips.

If you have any questions, please e-mail: acsbkk@state.gov or call the American Citizen Services Unit at: 02-205-4049.

We look forward to seeing you in Khon Kaen on Friday, May 1.

Sincerely,

American Citizen Services
U.S. Embassy
Bangkok, Thailand

It's good to hear that ACS is still making trips to the Northeast but wonder why they stopped coming to Udon? Must be a lot more US retirees in Udon/Nong Khai (especially ex-servicemen) than Khon Kaen.

Maybe the hotel in Khon Kaen is more palatial and comfortable for the head cheese than the Charoensri Grand Hotel in Udon? :-k

I get the letters too but didn't see one for a recent visit to Udon. They were making regular stops here a couple of years ago.

Well, ACS is a member of the forum so maybe they will take notice? :D

I believe they alternate their Outreach visits to Issan between Udon and Khon Kaen.

Thanks Marmite don't feel so bad now... Just renewed mine. Irish regular size (no fries) 5,100 Baht. I went for extra large 66 pager 3,750 Baht. In UK/USA do you get a free passport when over 65? :-k

I got the standard 36 pager. Of course, they rip you off even more with the 48 page version.

But, I can't complain about the service at the embassy, even though they've replaced the Gurkhas with a couple of grinning retards.

No, but as long as our PP is still valid we can pages added into our passport for free.
