Jewelry...nope, clothes ...nope, flowers...nope so what would she love so much....$200 and a ticket to the casino boat for the evening

you see, that's what wrong. you all come here and corrupt these babes, who didn't have a clue what holidays were observed in the west. christmas in a buddhist country, hmmm, marketing at it's best. one reason i escaped the states. like the one response, everyday is valentines day. don't understand the need to buy flowers and 10 x the normal price in states during one week of the year, just to satisfy the marketers idea of love. if you don't spend 2.5 months salary for a diamond engagement ring, you don't love her. go in debt to have a wedding, instead of putting a down payment on a house. thousands of dollars for a dress, for one day. i give the little lady, whomever at the time, something whenever the spirit moves me, not when told to by marketing dept. of globalization experts, lol. 'what did your husband/bf give you for valentines day', nothing, but got diamond ring and flowers last month for no reason, as my one gf tried to explain to friends when empty handed on the day.

been here 5 years and this is the first year i celebrated christmas, an abreviated version compared to west. i like it that way, ignorance is bliss.

although these thoughts may explain the constant change in my relationships, lol. back to therapy.

Yep, spot on, the cynical marketing pressure of all these things is a bit of a pet hate of mine too.

However, in my case she certainly knows about Valentines Day. I would get no flak whatsover if I ignored it, or her birthday, or whatever, but its nice to do it.

Last year... I did all the stuff that she does the other 364 days a year, and the kids gave her some flowers (she did'nt comment that they were her flowers picked from the garden  )

Went down much better than throwing some money at something.

Amen and right on LA and Yorkman.

Wife has been in states 30 years and she agrees also. Thinks birthdays are a bit over rated also.
