VCR Videocassette recorder

PostAuthor: lee » September 13, 2008, 12:34 pm

Does anyone have an old VCR I could borrow for a day. I have some old videos that I would like to convert to DVD.

Cheers, Lee

Just as a matter of interest Lee, because I have a large Vid collection I took a quick look at the Vid to dvd converter put up by google. Is this the software that you use ? and is it safe ? What do you recomend ?

I have just purchased a TV Card for my laptop and it has a record/snapshot function too. Now all I need is a VCR, connect it to my computer and press record. It costs 1,000bt inc p&p off eBay, or you can buy it from the complex for 3,800bt

Lee, If the card can record to a hard drive, then it would seem counter productive to convert back to analog, when the file can be rendered as a DVD. But not sure what your goal is.

Hi All
If you have firewire on your computer, the best way to do it is connect your VCR to your video camera and connect the camera to your computer via firewire, which uses the camera as a pass through and converts it to digital also, then convert using Studio, Power Director, Vegas or similar.
I use this way for converting film also and the quality actually improves.

Wow thanks for the tip. I never would have thought of that and it saves me from having to buy additional software. I already have firewire from converting mini DV to DVD. Thanks again :D
