Re: AEK Udon International Hospital

My daughter was born at AEK 3 yrs and 5 months ago. Out of curiosity I ask my wife about the quality of care she received she said it was comparable to my son's birth in the US. AEK will be my choice of health care as they take my stateside medical insurance.

Bob

your comments are spot on, what if a smaller sponsor, ie the Acme Restaurent and Pub, gets a bad review first up, do we ( the UM Mods ) delete it as its adverse.

No doubt the AEK PR department will have reviewed this post and can see the positive comments after this first post.

Lee advised me that they are taking 5000 copies of the UM magazine and if thats not good advertising for Udon Map, i dont know what is.

I notcie the orginal critic of AEK , hasnt replied to the other posts, so my post might be the last.

I think a complaint of service against any sponsor is acceptable, if it is fair & factual. Wazza, I agree completely with your comments against the original criticism of AEK.
My only other comment is that when Lee launches a new thread promoting a new sponsor it is probably better to start a new thread with specific comments rather than post on the thread that the sponsor has obviously paid for...

It isn't really appropriate to post criticisms of a sponsor, or indeed recommend competitors, on a sponsor's topic. - One which the sponsor has in effect paid for. The Mods and Lee have talked about this from time to time.

Similarly we are aware of the merit of members being free to post their experiences and recommendations of local businesses be they sponsors or not.

The best solution we have come up with so far/to date is to keep sponsors topics separate and intact, enabling the information to be quickly and easily accessed, and sponsors to update information on their own topic/thread as and when required. Then where members which to post their experiences and recommendations, favourable or otherwise, they do so on a separate topic, - either a new one or a suitable one already in existence. That way the sponsor doesn't have adverse material posted on his topic/thread. :D

I have therefore split the above posts away from the AEK's sponsored topic and appropriately amended the title of this topic/thread. :D

Whilst, I understand the implications of negative comments that can arise on sponsors threads, I think that if a sponsor decides to advertise on a public forum, they should be aware that is exactly what it is, a public forum, and people posting on that forum, will post, what in their opinion is their personal experience. for the benefit of other forum members.

The sponsors could use the comments posted ( negative or positive), to monitor their quality control, so thereby improving their customer service.

I personally have had occasion to use the services of AEK, on two occasions, and both I thought were of an exceptionally high standard of service, and the charges in my opinion were very reasonable.

I have worked in 6 different hospitals in America and I have yet to experience a perfect hospital or doctor! That said ,I have used AEK 3 times and I have been satified each time.Relative to any other hospital in the Nong Khai/Udon region,IMO,they are head and shoulders above the rest.I have never used Paolo, but I remember a member being given IV meds that were not his and that damned near killed him! There is no excuse for that!

Bumrungrad hospital in Bangkok is my best experience in Thailand and the most expensive, although I don't give their dental section good marks!

The main problems that I see with local hospitals are cleanliness and sanitation and medical staff competency! Most are grossly overstaffed, yet they don't provide much patient care or attention!

Whilst I agree with your comments about negative publicity being used to improve "quality control" etc;, I presume that the mods worry that there may be certain individuals/competitors, who may use the opportunity to damage the image of the sponsor.
If you look at the "feedback" section of certain hotel booking sites/golf course sites, you will invariably find one or two very negative comments, and some "over" positive comments.
When reading this type of comment, I usually tend to disregard most of what is being said, and instead focus on the "middle of the road" comments, that show both positive and negative.
I don't want to read a string of complaints about a sponsor (unless they are deserved), but at the same time, I do not want to read how wonderfull/cheap/helpfull a bar/resurant/shop is, only to find that they do not give me the service that they say.
I feel that a sponsor should be prepared to take the "rough" with the "smooth" on a forum. If I see a negative comment being made about a business, that I KNOW is untrue, I will endevour to post a reply to let people know of my experiences. There are dozens of regular posters on this forum who I am sure would do the same, so I really feel that there is no need whatsoever for the mods to protect sponsors by allowing only "good" posts on a thread.
If I read only good comments about somewhere, without the slightest hint of anything negative, I automatically start to be suspicious as to the validity of the claims being made. :-k so a lack of any negative comments, is in itself a negative comment

It appears that Ezrider had a bad experience with AEK. I, for one, would like to hear the details of his complaint rather than blanket statements that appear to be only opinion.

It appears that during one emergency visit a couple of years ago, a misdiagnosis by an over-eager doctor almost resulted in unneeded surgery. Maybe they were excited to see the health insurance card.We still use AEK for most of our medical needs and for dental because both the service and quality of the work are pretty good. We have been other places and honestly feel that AEK is the best for us for routine medical.

As with UdonExpat, we prefer not to buy medicines at the pharmacy's inflated prices.

So, Ezrider, what, in particular happened?
