Virus Attack

PostAuthor: Kudjap or Bust » July 28, 2007, 12:09 pm

I posted this earlier but it didn't seem to get displayed

Anyway, again, how do I tget rid of a trojan horse autoclk.exe. My antivirus s/w shows me I have this virus and its embedded in c:\windows directory

I use Antivir for virus detection, Adaware and Spybot, along with the usual MS security features thast come with Vista. None of them remove the virus...

Any ideas how I can rid myself of this virus?

What anti-virus software are you using? It shouldn't just report you have a virus it should eliminate it.

A check on Google gives this site http://www.mcse.ms/message1308261.html but it mentions un-installing modem... :?

Trend and Symantec have online scanners if you need a second or third opinion.

There is a modem driver for a Sagem modem by this name.
And a Windows program for mouse use for disabled people.

I didn't find it on virus lists of Symantec and McAfee.

I've used Hijack This quite a few times and have found it to be very useful. If you're not familiar with Hijack This, try this link:

http://www.help2go.com/Tutorials/Protec ... orial.html

You can also cut & paste the log file created after running Hijack this to link:

http://www.help2go.com/component/detective/

It will analyze the log file and give you an immediate answer.

Thanks all,

In answer I use AntiVir antivirus software, it seems to find and alert the virus but when I run the full scan it doesn;t remove it.

I've not heard of Hijack, but will download it and give it a try, does it remove viruses?

Doc,
Not very helpful...........

HiJackThis does not remove the virus, but it shows any footprints left by any malicious programs that may be on your system, follow the instructions above.

Are you sure it is actually a virus??

I found this info on it:

Process Name : autoclk

File Name : autoclk.exe

Description: "Autoclik is a Windows utility ""that allows you to perform all mouse activity with absolutely no clicking. This program could Be beneficial for anyone who suffers from Repetitive strain injury (eg. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) gold anyone who has difficulty using to their hands. Autoclik supports both left and right mouse short props. Six different short prop configurations are allowed. Two Different modes of operation are supported. Preferences edge Be set such have dwell times and finely hiring. The Control Small is used have year entry not for all options. It is our solitary recommendation to practice autoclik one. The program may seem awkward At first, goal with some practice it becomes has very useful utility."

A very long winded way of saying you only need to click once! However, this file is flagged as a Trojan by Trend PC Cilln 2003 and various other anti virus programs - so i'd say the best thing to do is go here -

http://www.kaspersky.com/remoteviruschk.html

And see what they say. Hope this helps!

Google has a lot of hits for autoclk.exe. Some for legitimate programs as mentioned in previous posts. Also a lot for false positives from scans, many from 2 or 3 years ago. Not every scanner will find every virus and some will give false positives so a site I find pretty useful is www.virustotal.com. Just go there and upload the file in question and it will scan it with about 30 different scanners with up to date signature files. You might try sending it your verson of autoclk.exe to see if it's a legitimate program.
