just asked a mate his kids have over 4000 tracks, never had a big prob(only a few that got sorted through antivirus), but his kids downloaded something to i-tunes(recently) and it had to bypass all his antivirus(To download it.) and Kapow....!!!! (His desktop is history), so there are problems with it if you let it get round the protection. :|

Hi all i had limewire and had nothing but trouble with trojans off it plus most programs on my lap top had some limewire installed into it took ages to rid the pc of the thing.
I now use aries great site easy to navigate no need to d/load a torrent for it just up-load the song i want and move it to i-tunes for the i-pod.
never had a virus or a warning of a threat off it.
Any of you guys no a site i can d/load thai tv off for a thai freind here in blighty thanks vlad.

As soon as you get this message, log off, disconnect, power off and place you computer/laptop in a bucket of Clorox. Then go to an internet cafe and send a message of apology to everyone you have ever emailed or chatted online with.

I can only speak from my own experiences about Limewire BUT:

1) I used it in the UK for 2/3 years and DID have a problem (On ONE occasion) with an "iffy" (soft pornographic) download which insisted on opening continual "pop ups" (NOT a virus) linked to hard porn sites.

I rectified that by utilising Windows Restore and peace and harmony was then resumed.

2) In Thailand, as I only have a "dial up" connection (Solomon, Nokia or Samsung) and would never attempt to download films, as it would take forever, I have ONLY utilised Limewire for music downloads.

These go into a "Limewire" folder, which I virus check prior to including in my "normal" computer files.

In defence of "Limewire" I must say that I have NEVER had a problem, pre or post my virus scan.

Other people may have had different experiences but I can only speak as I find.

for me I think bittorrent is safer than Gnutella P2P network (Limewire)
the speed is faster (depended on number of seeders).
but some rare files can only be found in Gnutella... and today it's full of junk files too.
It's a trade off :?

ps. Is it legal to talk about this thing here?
