The Udon Police said I didnt leave my sidelights on so it was difficult to see my black coloured car !
Still,if I am awarded a couple of TITS it will all have been worthwhile

I tend to agree with jackspratt... I think Zidane has written a 'worst case scenario' and is trying to pass it off as fact. Either that or he just agreed to assume all liability and pay accordingly without so much as an argument. Having had dealings with the local police on a few occasions (including being involved in an accident), I'm aware of their scams and attempts to extract funds from the innocent but this 'story' goes way beyond the mundane.
C'mon Zidane, fess up.

Unless Zidane was illegally parked (double-parked while he ran inside the market? That's pretty common here) and the old lady ran into the back of his vehicle. If he was legally parked at a curb or in a parking lot then there is no way he should have admitted responsibility for someone driving into his stopped vehicle. Wonder if he tried calling his insurance company while this was going down?

The accident happened on the evening of 8th December close to the new Index store that had opened the same day.The car park was full so myself and a number of other vehicles were directed to park just off the hard shoulder on the ring road.Just bad luck it was my car she hit.
It was 5.30pm when I parked up (daylight) but about 6.15pm when I came out(dark) so I suppose I should have put my sidelights on.....this is what the police got me for.
I suppose also maybe I should have called the Tourist Police but when something like this happens you dont always think clearly.
After making statement to the Police I had to go back to the station a week later for the verdict.
I got in touch with my insurance company and, fortunately, was covered for the Thai ladies hospital fees.
The rest I had to pay myself.
But the most important thing was that the lady recovered from the accident. If something bad happened to her then I would have had to live with that for the rest of my life(possibly part of the time in Udon prison )
Whatever you may think the accident was caused by her poor eyesight. When I met her at the Police Station a week later she had to get very close to people and squint to see them.....shouldnt be driving really.
So there you have it,thats the facts. Most people I've spoken to (Thai & farang) think I was hard done to but judge me as you will.

your insurance company sucks. should of covered everything. since index directed you to park.......................hmm. that area is fairly lit up, so i'm guessing it's time for her to get her script redone for those contacts.
in my case, they were going to hold the car for randsom, until all settled. did they hold your car, and you returned the following week to settle, or were you allowed to keep and use car. if they didn't say they were going to kidnap the car, i would of went to court and did the right thing, and probably won. as no if and or butts, passing on the left is illegal, especially, when there isn't even a lane to pass on. my insurance company was already to go to court, kind of feel sorry for them, the way they scam you, it screws the insurance companies.
she probably wouldn't of seen your lights anyway.

No they didnt hold my car for ransom but it wasnt driveable anyway.....boot staved in and back windscreen cracked.Fortunately we were told about a local garage not far from AEK that doesnt charge the earth for repairs.
I did think about getting a solicitor but the cost would probably have been more than what I ended up paying anyway.
Just put it down to experience, far worse things can happen in life.
I wonder if the police ever crack down on these saamlaws and motor bikes you see driving at night without lights ??

A lot of locals out there on motorcycles and driving cars, visually impaired. No real vision tests are given when they apply or renew their licenses other than a colorblind test. Saw a young Chinese Thai albino-looking guy out at DLT a few months ago. He was wearing glasses with thick lenses but still had his face a couple of inches away from the bulletin board in the hallway. Looked like he was studying traffic signs. Noticed him in front of a computer monitor a while later with his nose almost touching the screen. He passed the test and is out on the roads now, btw.

Was just having a read through this post and it struck me LA's WBU graphic would make a great t-shirt.
What do you think LA?
You did say that permission was needed for its use.

i don't think he would mind using for personal use, but he does plan on selling shirts when he gets around to it. i put it on one of my shirts, ok job, w/iron on. make sure you use (if iron on) light or dark transfer depending on shirt, if any doubt, use dark. i used light, i though on a non dark shirt, and the shirt ate up the light backround. but looks ok, just a test shirt. working on gettng it emboydered on hat.
good luck.

YA lesson learned for me on the first day the cop who took the first report said to me well you can go drink more whiskey now, Hell, I don't drink pretty obvious where it was going. So wjhen it came time for the sttlement confrence which the wanted to do immediately I put it off till I had legal representation. Became much a different ball game and things were done on a professional level.
The lesson had nothing to do with how smart I am, the lesson is don't believe all the rumors you here until they are proven to you. The second don't expect much unless your willing to stand up for yourself.
Ya I got talk to Ray Rai about taking vacation's. How dare her heck no telling what I might get into. Actually I think she did mess up this time missed some appointments. Hey maybe she is on love LOL

My girlfriend told me yesterday that she wants me to buy a watch to her sisters son. He wants an watch from Sweden which costs about 10k to 15k Baht. If I buy the watch and bring it to her sister son, can I be classified as a buffalo then ?
