Let me please hijack this request: Does anyone know a german speaking lawyer? I'm not in trouble, but I want to buy a house shortly, and would feel much better if a serious lawyer who knows all the pittfalls could handle this.

Thank you

This is all very well but do we have a Thai Lawyer on the forum who can clarify interpretations of Thai Law put forward by other members. -- I don't think so.

OK here is one question I will put forward:-
Renewal of the Thai Drivers License. If you renew a few days prior to expiry (as one would in the western world) you will only receive a one year license - BUT Let it expire for a few days, a week or what ever you may then ask for and be granted a 5 year license.
Can any one explain the logic behind this law??

may i strongly recommend FBI real estate for this. their lawyer is excellent and will protect your interest beyond anyone else. no need to use them for purchase of land or house, but use their lawyer to draw up a contract for you and do the registration of land and house. i wish they were here 5 yrs ago. stop by and talk with them, and he'll let you know their way of doing things, you'll be impressed. no fee for just talking and learning the proper way to do it.
