Well Well Well ?

or ?Three holes in the ground.

Involved in drilling a well this month. 4500bht included the 32 foot well, 8ft blue plastic 4" pipe. 1.5" pipe to raise the water and the hand pump.
5000bht bought a 4 stroke engine water pump man enough to raise water 8ft and could double up to pump water from the farm "lake".
800 Bht to buy collapsible feed pipes. All this made a small farmer very happy. The water was just drinkable.

The water was just drinkable.

10 meter well, you may want to pass on drinking that until tested. 10-15 meters out in ban tad doesn't get you drinking water. have 25 meter plus, cystal clear, drinkable, but run thru a filter as precaution. 8)

I think whether its really drinkable or not has to do with where the septic tanks and the cattle are.

In my wife's mother's village, there are many wells less than 10 meters deep and only 10 meters or so from the septic tank drains. Sure, the water tastes kind of funky, but they are accustomed to the taste and they don't think anybody has been made sick from the water yet. IMHO, a health catastrophe waiting to happen.

In any case, if they are far enough from pastures and septic tanks, then water near the surface should be fine (or so I was told).

Drinkable?? Does that mean liquid enough that it doesn't need to be chewed first?

What are the costs involved in the digging of a well?

we had one drilled near nong tad , they went down 20 metres , cost for drilling was 9000, but by the time we paid for materials like sand ,ballast plastic pipes and electric pump big enough to give a good flow rate and a lockable cage for the pump the total cost was just under 30,000. the water looks very clean and tastes O.K but i wouldnt drink it. hope this helps

15,000 for 25-30 meters, doesn't not include pump, just machine, labor and pvc. good pump, less than 15k, i think, mine for deep well was 13k about 3 yrs ago.

that and a raise storage tank, never have to worry about water or electic outage, as long as you don't forget to fill tank. 8)
