I had this on my mind and just wanted to get away from some of the other topics. I hope I get to read some of your answers before I leave. I am the antithesis of the typical Thai male,so says the wife and i have heard it many times from other Thai wives about their good farang husbands.I treat her as an equal with full openness and sharing of everthing.All i have is hers and visa versa.I don't drink,smoke,take drugs or go out accept as a family unit.

other, mutual divorced, so we don't put up with each other anymore. more i stopped putting up with her. proir to divorce, think it was just money. i think she regrets her decisions, i don't, lol.

Why does my Thai wife put up with me. I really don't know now. After all I don't tell her all about my earnings, I limit her to an allowance every month, albeit a substantial one. According to the posters on the other forum, she should have left me long ago.But she still tells me every day, without fail, SHE LOVES ME!!!

My wife also, doesn't smoke ,,drink or take drugs and only swears when it slips out!!

The purpose of these threads is to spark discussion. Lets hope it continues.

As for why my wife puts up with me or I her, I think it is mutual love, respect. and trust. (no I am not talking money) IMHO these are the three cornorstones to any relationship. Will a marriage fail if one of these is missing, I really do not know. I think it would be hard to go forward but folks marry for a lot of different reason and if they are happy, then who am I to say they are right or wrong. Can't and won't.

I selected other. I can't narrowed it down to just one thing. My wife loves me for me, but also for money (financial security).

I don't think that I will have time at home to stop in here but I am at work and everyone else is having a Christmas hallway luncheon so I am taking that time to visit you you good people. What diversified answered. Perhaps I should have named the subject Why do you HOPE you wife/GF puts up with you.

I personally have no idea as it is difficult to actually know what someone else is thinking. You have to judge then by their actions and not by words. When you throw in cultural differences that you may or may not or only partially understand then even judging by actions may result in an incorrect answer. I hope that my wife puts up with me because she loves me as much as I love her but I will never know that answer until I become a mind reader. This can also be confused as any woman may love you today and not tomorrow. a fact of life is that people just change.

Does she put up with me because of money, love, status, other? or all of the above. Even mrXXX in his own way makes me think about the answer to this. Do I have doubts? no not really, I used to but after a while I decided that thoughts of this nature were counter productive so I just put them aside and hope for the best.

Does she love me? I think that as long as she at least presents the illusion, comes home every night, loves and takes care of my son, at least pretends to be my best friend, even argues with me occasionally and makes my life more interesting every day then what does it really matter? As long as she continues to put up with me then she is earning her keep in my book.

Besides that she is so dam cute.

I put it to the boss and got "I don't know".
She said "love can't be everything there has to be more" I figured okay I'm on a winner here, then she added "I if it was meant to be then we will last if not we won't". The boss has an amazing ability of always keeping stuff down to earth.
