Widsom Tooth Removal

PostAuthor: Conrad » July 28, 2006, 6:08 pm

Hi, my girlfriend needs a wisdom tooth extracted. We are located in Nakhon Phanom, she does not trust the local hospital or dentists here to carry out the work.

Is there any hospital or dentists in Udon that perform this work, unsure if she will need an general anaesthetic for this. Has anybody had this procedure carried out in Udon. Any help would be most appreciated.

I did perform a search but could not locate any posts on this subject, thanking You.

There's a few recommendations for good dentists on these threads:

and

Hope they can help you out.

If the wisdom tooth has broken through, it probably can be extracted by a dentist with local anesthesia. If the tooth is impacted (still under the surface), she probably will need an oral surgeon, a different type of anesthesia, and may have stitches -- will probably need to return for a followup several days post-surgery.

Be careful on the selection -- these extractions can get infected.

Thanks for the replies guys, I think I will contact AEK Udon and see if they can perform this procedure for her.

gulfcoastUSA I think it has broken through as she keeps trying to show me the offending tooth, so hopefully it can be done under a local anaesthetic by a general dentist.

Thanks again guys.

Hope everything goes OK Conrad.

I had my impacted wisdom teeth removed many years ago. Not very pleasant, unable to eat solids for a few days, but nothing life threatening.

The two things I remember most were the feeling of the scapel cutting through the gums and my wife staring down my mouth sucking up all the blood. She was the nurse. Not a job I could do.

Just a quick follow up for future guidance in case anybody needs the same sort of procedure. We decided to go with AEK Udon, contacted them via e-mail about one week before we arrived in Udon to arrange an appointment (no reply), so resorted to the traditional phone call and were booked in for October 3rd.

The procedure went reasonably well so i'm told by my girlfriend, it was preformed under a local anaesthetic by a female dentist and took about an hour and a half. My girlfriend said it did hurt quite a bit but was bearable, she has four stitches in her gum which can be removed by the local dentist back in Nakhon Phanom.

The cost for this procedure was 4380 baht including the pain killers and antibiotics. At least that its over and done with now thankfully.

Thank you for posting the results. My wife may need to have her wisdom teeth yanked, so I read this with interest.

Did AEK Udon offer any sedation or a local anesthetic? (Can't imagine it without a local!)

Did they try to keep her for a night?

Thank you again in advance.

Hi rickfarang,

First of, sorry for the delay in replying, been a while since I visited this forum, (must talk to myself).

Did AEK Udon offer any sedation or a local anesthetic? (Can't imagine it without a local!)

They performed this procedure under local anesthetic, also provided about a weeks worth of paracetamol. My girlfriend stopped taking them after a few days as the pain had subsided.

Did they try to keep her for a night?

No the visit took about one and a half hours start to finish for her. I would think no two wisdom tooth removals would be the same though. We went back to the hotel that night.

Apart from watching what she eat for a few days there really were no complications at all.

Regards
Conrad :D :D
