Tidy result for certain.
Not sure if Scotland will be happy with their 0-0 at home to Norway. However Norway are not really the team to play in qualifiers, always hard to beat.
Wales 2-0 against the mighty Liechtenstein (only joking a win is a win & all that counts & now second in their group)
Northern Ireland 0-2 away to Slovenia, again disappointing.
Didn't the Republic of Ireland play????

France only managed a 2-2 draw away to Romania, but, lucky for them, Austria could only manage a 1-1 away to Faroe Islands. Serbia & Lithuania now top this group 2 points in front of Austria/France.

Never saw it Roy, only the result. Sounds like I should be grateful for that :D :D
Can you really play that badly & score 5 goals???
I did read the goal against was a bit of a horror by the defence...
It will just show 5-1 in the record books Roy & to win when you are playing badly is always good.

Nine points from three games, let's build on that.

Cyprus only lost to Italy by a late goal in a previous qualifier so the result is by no means certain for Eire as is an England win away to Belarus.
Emile Heskey voted MOM on Saturday.....wouldnt have thought that possible a year or two back......at least Rooney seems to be regaining his goal touch.

Belarus 1 England 3 :D
Good win for England in a tricky away match.Steven Gerrard and a brace from Wayne Rooney were the goalscorers.
Twelve points from the first four games.....looking good for South Africa 2010.

Eire beat Cyprus 1-0,N.Ireland beat San Marino 4-0 but Wales were beaten 1-0 by Germany in other qualifiers.

Yes good evening for all except Wales - although I imagine their hope is probably to try & qualify second behind Germany.
Certainly a good turn around by the England coaching staff when compared to the mess of trying to qualify for Euro 2008. I am not sure we look like contenders for the 2010 title yet, but 2 years to go & if the improvement continues how knows??? There are certainly some good young English strikers available now, although no one (yet) in the "Shearer" model which we would need to give other options when the going got tough. I can't see Heskey or Couch being particularly feared by a decent opposition.

The shock result of the evening has to be Portugal at home drawing with Albania who were down to 10 men for the whole of the second half. Carlos Quirez was not a happy bunny.

Bad news for me with Torres getting injured in the Spain game #-o

Argentina lost 1-0 in Chile & Brazil could only manage a 0-0.

Everyone has a bad day sometimes I guess... :D :D
