I just about always enjoy checking out your photos, Ron -- more than anyone else, you give me a visual link to Udon Thani that I don't otherwise have too much of.

So I want to wish you a great 2009!

And the same goes to the other Forum members I've met through the pages of this community, and the few I've met in person.

If I may put words into my wife's mouth, consider us toasting everyone there as she and I experienced the first few moments of 2009 outside our home here in snowy Surrey, British Columbia, Canada!

Well, this is a strange turn of events. How is it that Vancouver (Surrey) has more snow than Toronto? And your snow is white in colour, while ours is black and sooty. 55555

Why can't we see any roses and crocuses?

We should have you beat in the temperature department, however, because it felt like -20 degrees celsius on New Year's Eve in hogtown, and the wind pierced right through the parka!

All the best in 2009 although the politicians are warning us that it will be a rocky financial year !!!

Too bad about Toronto, Tilokarat! Here in Surrey, we were obviously blessed where a "White Christmas" has been concerned. The statistic came out that for any specific Christmas around here, we have only a 10-11% chance of it being White.

It was especially meaningful for us because my wife's two sons of course wanted to see snow -- they've been here since after the end of the third week of September. They were both out there with us on New Year's, and one of them took the photo. Here's one of the two of them that night. The older boy (Tho, 14) wore just his sandals in his bare feet -- too rushed to join us to bother putting on regular shoes.

This one was taken just before Christmas. The youngest boy (Pote, 11) has made a snow fort with our sundeck table as its foundation. My wife, Jack, is assessing his entrance portal.

From Boxing Day, here is Jack playfully asserting her eminence to young Pote in the front yard.

And a group shot of us in front of the house -- Jack took the shot, so she's absent: myself; Tho and Pote; my brother (Mark); and his daughter, Rene (Irene).

Good fun, for sure -- but I'd still rather be a resident of the tropics!!

I must say, I'm not exactly entranced with ImageShack -- I particularly don't like how the Forum page is hijacked each time I open a link or photo in my post, nor that the image is shared with an ImageShack self-advertisement.

Those are great photos and far removed from Thailand. 55555

The picture of your wife showing that she is the boss is classic.

Did you hear that it was -40 to -50 in Saskatoon this morning. I spent one winter in that place and can attest to the fact it gets mighty cold. We were warned not to take deep breaths or it would frost your lungs.

Tomorrow will be a balmy -10 in Saskatoon.

Anyway, the main point is that your family is really enjoying a true Canadian winter, thankfully it is not in Saskatoon

or, use imageshack, but use the image code under the pic 'Hotlink for forums (1)' which will put the pic in full size, but careful on original pic sizes.

a program 'shrinkpic' auto resizes pics, to load faster. the kbs, not the actual size, so size still matters. works with most uploads, though sometimes not imageshack.
