sounds like it does, if so, rather nice indeed.................hmm, have to work on my schedule, as st mary's, christian school ????? doesn't break for xmas. did the first year, and last 3, twice it was over the weekend, and last year, had elections, so don't know if school will have 3 days off in middle of week. xmas off, but rest was weekend already. that's pretty sad for catholic school, and they never plan too far ahead. think i'll start asking this week what their plans are. or may simply make my own.

Talked to the TW and she says YES!!!!!!....now to check with daughter and see if she can stay also since she is close but still far from the place. I want to make sure she can take off from the university during that time. I also want her to make arrangements to be off work during that time. Ralph, you would know how much for a single person to stay at that time, would you?

No, not for me. No Queens speech to the nation after lunch.
Seriously though. Am I the only one that literally hates Xmas? I think when Dickins wrote the book, Scrooge was based on me.Back in the UK the pre Xmas rush wondering whether Auntie Mary would like those adorable embroidered handkerchiefs and what about little cousin Jimmie, we allowed expenditure of 5 pound per kid and if we get that model car, it's 8 pound, then of course we must be fair and spend 8 quid on all of them  No thank you, HUMBUG, HUMBUG.
I am sure this attitude goes back to my childhood experience at the beginning of WWII. I remember going to bed early on Xmas Eve after hanging my stocking for father Xmas, eventually after a while falling asleep, only to wake up at the crack of dawn to see the stocking had a mysterious looking bulge in it. With great excitement I opened it and lol and behold, inside was an apple and an orange, thats it, an apple and an orange, nothing else. Now you must remember it was wartime and even these items were scarce commodities so I should have been grateful. With my father away in the army somewhere, and my mother doing her best to take care of three kids on a limited budget. I now know what a sacrifice she must have made to provide them. But, I can't help it. Ever since I have hated Xmas and to this day, I detest apples and oranges. So as usual this year. I will donate to some unfortunate kids somewhere, to try and brighten their day. I will lock myself in my office, with a fine bottle of Scotch, a few home made mince pies, and watch the clock going round until its boxing day and I can come out and watch the football.
Have a great time lads. \:D/

true brit yes it was tough times but it was much worse for you since England was being bombed
I was lucky no city in the USA was bombed during WW 2 but I remember the black outs & air raid wardens on the street and yes certain foods were hard to find & we were given raison stamps for food & fuel
since there was no car in our family we did not get those. Even the local mail man was armed while
he delivered the mail yes truebrit you brought back some unpleasant memories but some were not all bad
have Merry Christmas while your sucking down your scotch and we both can be thankful we are still above ground.
