YEARLY MEDICAL CHECK UP

PostAuthor: laphanphon » April 3, 2009, 11:18 am

what...............you don't get them................and you are how old, and what runs in you family, are you an idiot........OFFENDED, :fryingpan: :fryingpan: :fryingpan: :fryingpan: i hope so, age 50, very important, 55 and up, refer to idiot reference, and add extreme. seriously............one of the more important wastes of money you can do..................waste? yea, they never find anyting wrong................but..........catch it early and you live. ok, enough acting like your parents, or conscious or my usual self

On a more serious note, hmm, my user file must have been hacked. In BKK at the moment for our yearly inspect and detect if anything possibly wrong thru the basic medical exam. We use Camillion Hospital, which I really like, except for this year, inflation has arrived, or they simply realized the were way under priced. in the past, the Deluxe Program, includes all I require, (last years price) used to be advertised male, 6620/3500 promotion, a bargain. Ladies version in the past was something like 8970/5500, but include the additional, always comfort pelvic/pap thing, along w/mammagram. I've compared prices over the years, each time, and they still remained the cheapest with the best coverage/offering of test for the price. links to coverage and long rant to follow. also to follow, last year beak down of options to add,if needing or wanted. keep in mind last year's prices and website doesn't not have this years prices, but and email should get the info.

with exception to a major price increase this year, more than double last years price, which of course is in line with all the offerings from competitive hospitals, which are still higher prices and don't offer the same testing coverage, some rather poor. complete list to follow, but the basics for me is the life threatening dangers, if caught early, makes for a happy recovery. So these, in my opinion should be the minimums in any exam. PSA, for prostate cancer, ----- for liver functions and cancer, ===== for kidney function and cancer, complete abdominal ultrasound, for everything, and of course, cancer detection. The other basics, you should have an idea, what is going on in your body/blood. CEA/AFP, again cancer indications. of course, liver/kidney fuction test, along with all the bells and whistles. The rest of self explanatory, but blood work, included red/white cell count, that dreaded cholesterol numbers, good/bad/total. Uric acids and sugar for you all prone to diabetes. And all that other stuff you seemed to have inherited from you family tree.

I’ve had the test done at AEK Udon, and Panyavejinter (when Paolo), and of course I price them every year for comparison. Though no matter how much cheaper, I doubt if I would use in the future, as both missed things Camillion has found, that rant below. Camillion did fumble the ball on one test this your, a surprise, but recovered and scored high points, though I had to follow thru with this…………which is highly recommend, you need a set of nuts, it's you life, and it never hurts to have a good repore with you docstechs/nurses, humor goes a long way, don’t be scared to ask questions, it may save your life. As mentioned before, leave youe male macho ego outside for the day….now the long rant below…… I’ll put the info first, then bore ass you all.

below are links to AEK, Panyavinter and Bumrughard in bkk, world renouned and overpriced in my opionion, but great customer service, barring those lawsuits i read about on internet.

may i suggest you open in new window so easier to compare. BH has nice explanation of terms.

Bumrungard International Executive progam link, all english, but for comparison to other non english is rather easy, as all have english script for actual test.

THE RANT. ok you are lucky, abbreviated version, as typed once but lost it. basically i would use aek or paolo, as in the past they missed things camillian found, such as fatty tissue on liver...oh joy, sure that did happen over night. plus both missed my hep b antibodies, even though both administered the vaccine. camillian caught it every time, last year just trace of, this year none, as time for a booster, well, when single again.

ok, camillians oops this year, with a steller rebound. ultrasound notes 'not fully destended bladder' and 'focla intraluminal lesion', hmm, doesn't sound bad. recommended to see urologish, sure, schedule, done, by. ................ ok, check inernet, 'distended' = not full, ok, and 'focal Intraluminal lesion', anything form minor inflamation to cancer :yikes: ok, 24 hrs of unnecessary thoughts, and no desire for urologist follow up to inspect bladder the usually entry way, no thanks. back to ultasound chickie, and what do you think about a repeat, w/full bladder, better pic maybe, sure. with anticipation of this route, i've been drinking water all morning, she pours me another, i request another, these last 2 of liters each, staff is busting, tha farang is nuts. now dancing and ready for new ultrasound. 'full enough'......'mak mak'.........done, very clear pic, no problems, no charge, smiles all around.

so i will remain here for another year, for many a member's displeasure.

i will get a price for barium eneama, oh joy, as over do, and beats a conolscopy. :yikes: 8)

Wise thoughts and excellent Proactive Medicine

No wise cracks for the barium enemea now then.

Did my exec check up at Bumrungrad, last week, on the way back to Udon from work.

Yep more expensive, if ur in before 1000, all path results back in 3-4 hours together with ur certificates etc.

LA is 100% correct here, u can save money on some things, BUT your own health has no price on it.

IMHO ------- The OP is a bit long winded but I for one do agree that some sort of medical checks are important be it though the regularity and severity is definately down to the individual:-
Previous medical histories
Family histories --- MOST IMPORTANT
Current and abnormal twinges as well as discomforts
ETC.

For me annual Cholestoral and Prostrate is enough even though there is no family history. In fact I'm reasonably lucky where my 88 yo Mum is only going blind and 87 yo Dad suffers from CRAFT (Can't Remember A Fxcken Thing) as well as bad lungs from 55 years of smoking, I don't. My 4 grand parents also lived into their ripe old ages and at 60 next month feel pretty good accept for the lack of a bit of excersize, too bloody lazy AND :drunk:

my big conserns, as mentioned, or not, obviously PSA, AFP, CEA, whole ab ultrasound, renal/liver function. the rest is farily obvious, due to lifestyle, size, overall feeling of health.

also for me is the barium enema, since but cancer now runs in famliy, thanks bro. but basically a day out of you life, once a year, and 10k -12k baht depending on age and options piced. will post back with BA cost and experieince, lol.

also stopped at bumrangarnd hospital for skin canser check, 1130 baht for once over. i do not like this hospital, no peticaular reason but some things they do, just don't seem justified, couple years ago, had same, at end of day. ok how bout this, don't worry, why you want off, vanity, no do, and this, same, not so. you ok, done, by. apparently she had a hot date as she delined out before i could get dressed and ask for bill. today, same same but different, all ok, but 2 tumors, benighn, ok, take off today, no, come back next year. oh............job security. if take off now, no need to come back for few years. ok, no problem, if i can't find someone to remove, i'll do it myself.

and why is that people who work in the same hosplital and do the same thing every dany, haven't go a clue where things are and how to give you directions. 3 differnet bldgs and wrong to top it off, finally saw something family. so if going, main lobby, register, ask where skin center is. good luck

LA Up the stairs from reception , turn left and then around the corner turning to the right, and WHAMO its there on ur right. Also if your out of breath when u get there, they will refer u for a Respiratory assessment ! LOL, yes they do overservice , but my executive assessment last week, i was accompanied and escorted to every work station, by efficent staff, so that the longer results and readings were all done first.

The Dermatologist at AEK is quite good for the SCC's / lumps / bumbs etc and done on the spot , very well priced and pathology done, if its suspect etc.

Walk in and done in 1 hour, depending on the appointments ( dont try weekends - Beauty Clinic ! ) The longest part of this 1 hour is waiting for the emlar ( anaethestic cream ) to settle in.

Really feel yearly check up essential, but can't afford here in UK.I like Carmillian Hospital, but went on website link, no English to say where it is, and Google no better. So LA, where is the hospital so as i can take advantage on next visit. Just to show comparison with here, some prices from BUPA, the main private company here in UK i would think.

Bupa advanced health check (their top check) £649 or 33748baht
Add on Colon Health £549 or 28548baht
Add on Liver Health £199 or 10348baht
Add on Stroke risk assessment £249 or 12948baht
Add on Sexual Health £279 or 14508baht

Total £1925 or 100100baht.

But, special offer at the moment, £100 or 5200baht, discount. That's okay then! :D

PhilR

Its cheaper to get it all done here as you have clearly shown. Those figures put overservicing in Thailand to shame ! even with wages, cost of living etc in the UK being different.

The medical tourism angle that Thailand and others are still pushing despite numbers down on this area also.

The hospital is in Thong Lor district of Bangkok between Sukumvit and Petchaburi.I believe it is Sukumvit 55!At the Thong Lor BTS station, take a left on Suk 55!

My wife used to go there for GYN visits, but we swithed to Bumrungrad for a second opinion and never went back to Carmillian,as we got better Tx and results at ''B'' ,although much more expensive

Thanks for that bkkstan, although my Bangkok map doesn't go as far as Thong Lo BTS station, your directions would get me there i'm sure. Interesting you use Bumrungrad now, did take note of that on previous forum topic. Will use one for sure on next visit, as long as something unknown is not lurking somewhere in my body and sees me off before then, although with a metal heart valve blood pressure and asthma already, its going to be a close run thing i think! :D

Well funnily enough, i've been through an airport four times since op, and each time it has beeped and nothing can be found causing it to beep! So i end up having the full body search. 8-[ Maybe it is the metal valve i suppose, that causes it to beep!
