in 04 I came to Thailand on a walk in visa (30 days) and fell in BKK fractured my hip got a doctors note and they kept extending me 15 days at a time two trips a month to immigration in BKK and 1900 baht a month
this went on for 3 months no compassion from them just make me show up every two weeks and get 1900
baht a month so I am very happy for Dave they showed him some compassion BTW I was on crutches for
3 months

Can only hope that this is an indication of a rather more "Falang friendly" approach by NK. Although, to be fair to them, I do know of others who have gone & asked for advice & been treated sympathetically - but never quite this sympathetically !! :D :D
Bob,I did my back in about 6 years ago,and used a BORROWED Zimmer Frame, and I was also treated Very Well at N/K By one of The Lady Immigration Officers, firstly she helped me up the steps,Then instead of the usual 7 Days extension,She asked when I was due to return to UK,I replied in 3 weeks time,She then said I DONT think that you can travel like that, and She gave me 3 Months,And wished me well,I thanked her & left.. :D :D

Al... Errrrrr, Can I borrow that Zimmer frame? A few more months would be nice!
How MUCH do I charge a Fellow Falang for Renting the Zimmer ?? I Dont know IA.BUT You can have The Bad back for "FREE " Just so long as I get shut of it !!! [-o< [-o<

It's good to hear a positive experience with Nong Khai Immigration for a change. :D

I'm still going over the bridge every 3 months for my business visa armed with a mountain of papers and work permit, and have been doing this for several years now. Anything beats the extortionate taxes and mountains of paperwork required by immigration to extend within the country. Also I don't have to see Mr Happy. :D

Maybe I could try again in Nong Khai with my leg in plaster.
