You could have blown me down with a feather!!!

PostAuthor: bigwavedave » January 5, 2009, 9:15 pm

Well my 60 day tourist visa ran out today, so me and pick get up to go to do a border run 35$ and 15 days stamp,as i have done my hand in in i m/c accident. By the time we got a bank that had dollars a did my photo's it was getting on.. by now my hand is hanging off in pain as i have to drive!!

So as we gets to NK I think bollox i will just go in for an extension (7 days ) ibelieve, as i was in bits by then, so i thought i would try to ask politely if they would under exceptiononal circumstances give me the (usual anywhere else 30 days. Worth a try.

Showed them a pic of my x ray Pick had a symapthetic chat to them, a couple of umm and err's with the big boss and oh my god.... Ok you can have 9 months extension in 90 days segments!!!!!!!!!!

Thankyou very much see you in 3 months!!

Great news Dave. Sometimes a cloud does have a silver lining. :D :D
Can only hope that this is an indication of a rather more "Falang friendly" approach by NK. Although, to be fair to them, I do know of others who have gone & asked for advice & been treated sympathetically - but never quite this sympathetically !! :D :D

Did I understand you correctly? A 9 month extension on a 60 day tourist visa. That sounds more like a miracle or a mental breakdown by someone at Nong Khai Immigration. :drunk:

Bob,I did my back in about 6 years ago,and used a BORROWED Zimmer Frame, and I was also treated Very Well at N/K By one of The Lady Immigration Officers, firstly she helped me up the steps,Then instead of the usual 7 Days extension,She asked when I was due to return to UK,I replied in 3 weeks time,She then said I DONT think that you can travel like that, and She gave me 3 Months,And wished me well,I thanked her & left.. :D :D

Nice one 747. I think I will take the "normal" route rather than suffer an injury tho!!!
However, if the worst ever does happen then I know where to go to "milk it" now.... :D :D :D :D

the question is ????????? is it wise to state these moves here ????? what about thai custom officers getting your messages???
i feel your moves not acceptable and publishing them not very wise.i wonder if i am the only person having this opinion.

Hhhmmmm, just be careful when you next do a visa run, the guy/girl in the imm box may take a good look at the actual visa and put 2 and 2 together........remember, when they put the stamp into your passport they physically write the visa type on the top of it.......they have the power to revoke as well........could be a costly overstay.....IMO of course

it's nice to see the Thai Immigration folks are compassionate and will respond to someone with medical issues requiring them to stay in the kingdom longer than their visa expiration date. Actually though, I think this is allowable under Thai immigration rules..

Always thought that one was funny, as you have to undergo a medical ( ) and prove you are fit, to get a visa, unless you get a medical visa, in which case you need to prove you are NOT fit to travel, or that your stay is for the benefit of your health.
Perhaps they have amended your visa type on their books.

Often thought about trying to get a "medical visa" on the grounds that I catch colds when the temp dips below 16C :-"

wonder if i can get one for my bad back, since 'almost' unable to take that long 25 hr plus flights back to states. without mother's little helpers, it would be next to impossible.

they would probably deport me as unfit, and tell me to take a cruise ship. :yikes:
